Micro Comics in Wal-Mart?
« on: January 15, 2014, 04:53:42 AM »
So, the micro comics Wal-Mart (and maybe other stores) has, sealed in plastic. Are these the same as the comics released by IDW that each feature one of the main characters in a story, or are they completely different comics? I love that they're sealed up and fresh, but it makes it difficult to know what they are!

Yes, they are exactly the same as the individual pony series (micro-series). If you own the regular versions already, there's no need to buy the minis (I do have a set b/c I like the bonuses). I hope this helps.

Thank you so much! :) Yes, that's a great help. I don't own the regular-sized ones (and haven't even known where to buy them around here), so I might consider investing in the minis, especially since they come with other stuff and for all that are cheaper than the price of one comic by itself!

I just hope the font size isn't microscopic.

They are a bit of a nuisance - there are 16 different stickers and 16 different tattoos and 16 different posters but only 4 different comics and content. Scroll down to the bottom here to see the detail on them - http://cat352.wix.com/mlparena#!compilations--specials/c4d4

There is character details included in them which are not in the larger comics but nothing special and nothing different in story - its just he micro series stories.

Yeah, that's annoying that there's more bonuses than unique comics to contain them! I picked up Twilight and Rainbow's comics tonight and thoroughly enjoyed them, and I also enjoyed the price, which was even less than the sticker said! I'll probably get the others, too. Pity they haven't released Rarity and Fluttershy in that format too. Anyone know if they will? I'd love to get theirs, especially for less than the regular-sized comics cost.

IDW havent mentioned it. These seemed a bit of a surprise to everyone at the time when these were announced so I would say its always possible - probably down to sales figures. They have 10 micro stories now after all they could easily do another set of 4.

I've seen these at Hot Topic and TRU, too.  They're not a bad value if you missed some of the micro-series comics.
