Geminid meteor shower
« on: December 11, 2013, 11:54:47 PM »
Whoo! Peak nights for Geminids is coming up. I am excited to try to see this! It is going to be cold though and I will have to bundle up.
Some people in the area of Phoenix Arizona got a nice view of a meteor and heard a loud boom.

In 2013, a bright waxing gibbous moon will interfere with the Geminids throughout most of the peak night. Your best bet is to watch on the mornings of December 13 and 14, from moonset until dawn. Read more

Anyone else going to try to catch this?

Clear nights are so rare in Seattle that I have virtually no chance of seeing this-  ah well

Yeah, it will be below freezing and we have a high chance of snow here Saturday. It will be rough haha :D

I'm not much for going out in the cold night too often!! Last time I did winter sky watching was the 2010 winter solstice total lunar eclipse.... I stood outside freezing for about four hours, I saw one meteor that night from the Ursids and only got one semi good picture of the eclipse. But it was fun!!
