« on: November 10, 2013, 01:45:30 AM »
so I had a build-a-bear rainbow dash plush but sadly I left it at my cousins
and now her hair is all tangly. :yikes:
I can wash her like normal ponies so how would I fix that? :what:

I think a wash may make the situation worse if you don't untangle it first. I'd gently separate the hair by hand, then when it's mostly untangled, brush from the tips upward until it's smoothed out. I hope you can get RD looking just right again! If you do wash her, don't put her through the dryer without putting her in a pillowcase first, or put her on an air dry cycle (this is what I do) heat can really mess up plastic hair!

I would recommend using a detangling product - most likely whatever conditioner you use for your normal ponies hair. Get a spray bottle, fill it mostly up with water, add a capful of conditioner and shake it to mix. Then spritz Dash's hair until damp and comb gently, applying more conditioner/water mix wherever the knots seem really bad. I would also recommend using a metal comb with wide teeth, and separating the hair into smaller sections and working on a little bit at once. Also start at the tips and work your way up to the roots, as cool breeze said. This should help to minimise hair pulling/breaking/shedding while you fix her up. Then you can give her hair a quick rinse with cool water if you want to remove the conditioner residue and pat the hair dry.

My Rainbow's mane and tail were really tangled when I bought her, so It can be fixed! Separate her hair into sections and untangle the biggest knots slowly with your fingers, then take a comb and brush at the ends whilst you hold the hair towards the middle (this is so you don't tug on the roots too much which can cause the hair to be ripped out). Eventually, she should be tangle free! You might end up having to trim the ends of her hair, though. Mine's tail tips feel really awful and frizzy but the rest of her hair is fine.
Idly searching for: loose, good condition G4 Blossomforth, Starbeam Twinkle, Plumsweet. TTM Celestia doll's wings Within UK or EU only, please.
Will also take in Pretty Pony Club (UK magazine) fakies.

Ah, younger cousins. :P Nice of you to let her play with it though. Is she a lot younger than you?

As to the hair, you should be able to gently untangle it with your fingers. :)

This sounds crazy, but when I first got my BABW ponies, I did deep condilltion their hair...as in, I put them in the sink and ONLY got their hair wet! >อบ< craazy I know! I used warm water and a deep conditioner, just worked it around the hair with my thumbs careful not to get any fabric wet-i actually leftaout half an inch at the start of the mane/tail dry so it wouldnt get wet. I waited a few hours leaving the conditioner in the mane before brushing it. They each lost a fair amount of hair, but luckily its not drastic. It does look nicer and lays flater! I used a hair dry-warm on the lowest setting and then straightened Twi+ RD hair on the lowest possible setting on my straightener iron to straighten ojt any crimped hairs. I just left pinkies along after drying! :p i hope this helps!

I have a lot of problems with my BAB plushies and frizzy poof, too. Their hair seems more prone to poofing than a normal brushable pony. I'm pretty gently with mine, and they're still crazy.

I tried conditioning them, and it helped a little, but the only way I could get rid of the frayed ends was a little trim.
