BJD: Need Some Advice

Hey all. I need some help from those more in the know than I am.

About 4 months ago, I ordered my first BJD from Mint on Card are a pre-order. About a week ago, I received an email from them explaining that their shipment from the company has been lost. EMS has 2 weeks to find it before the company can claim on the insurance.

I've been really excited for my doll, and while I haven't fallen out of love with the girl that I picked, I find that this situation puts a bad taste in my mouth.

During the wait, I have been looking into more BJD companies and other dolls, as I have an OC I would like to make into a doll. And I just find myself wanting to do that.

If the shipment isn't found, we will have the option of getting our money refunded. I'm torn between wanting the doll that I've been wanting and waiting on (and shopping for) all summer, or taking the money and ordering a different doll. Especially if getting the doll means another few month wait while the company remakes the order.

I know I can't be the only one that has had this dilemma. What advice can you offer me?

Oh no I'm sorry your doll has gone missing. How does a large package like that go missing?

Maybe it will be found. If not is there another doll that you like more then the one you ordered? I know I would wait on a new Emma to be made it my girl had gone missing.

Is the new doll your thinking about in stock or will you have to wait on this one as well?

Yeah, I do hope that the package is found. I know a few other people on DoA were part of the same order, so they're dolls are missing as well.

The other doll I'm considering is in stock with Mint on Card, which is a bonus.

I wonder if part of my reluctance is I feel like I'm making this girl into my OC, even though I'm trying really hard not to.

Do what will make you happy If getting a different doll means you will bond better than do that. You may consider asking MOC if they'll just apply the money you paid to the in stock doll should the order come up still missing.

I'm not sure what you should do, but what they're saying sits poorly with me. Mostly because a person I follow on Tumblr Made a big order, and when the doll part of the order came in before the rest and she got told as such. She posted in her Tumblr that she wished that she hadn't been told because now she was just wishing that they would send her the doll that had come in right then, and then they canceled her order, saying she broke their rules, and put the doll up for sale in their shop.

Oh that really sucks! I really do hope you get notice tomorrow that she is found!!

I would also be tempted to ask if they might apply your money to the in stock doll if you like her better. I understand if you might not want this one if it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Hmmmmm, well, as much as it bites these things do happen. I would not let one bad experience keep me from the doll that I wanted. As Ali said, chances are very good that MOC would be happy to apply what you have already paid to a different doll; they'd rather not lose your business, I am sure.

I understand that these things do happen, and I'm grateful that MoC is dealing with the missing shipment. I will wait until the deadline for EMS, and should the order not be found, then ask to apply my money towards an in stock doll. I can't guess that I won't bond with the doll that I've already ordered, or doubt my choice until she gets here. I'm certain I'll fall in love with her all over again, provided she actually makes it to me.

And unlike a number of other dolls I've had the case of 'I wants' for over past month or so, the one I'm drooling over isn't an LE, and probably won't be going anywhere any time soon.

Gah, I remember a couple of years ago a big order from B&G Doll just vanished. I guess it happens sometimes, but hopefully yours will turn up! MoC has good customer service and should be able to apply your payment to another doll.
