Guinea pigs in eastern nc?
« on: November 04, 2013, 07:03:14 AM »
It's been nearly a year since the tragedy that happened to my guinea pigs and I miss them so much. My other one who survived  the attack got old and died and now I have none :( I don't know anywhere to get a guinea pig other than pet stores and they aren't gauranteed to be healthy and are overpriced. I need to ask if anyone knows where I can find guinea pigs to rehome other than adopting? I'd appreciate it so much!

Check with your local pound or SPCA or humane society. Even if they have none in stock, they could call to let you know if they get any in.

Yes, check with your local rescues or better yet, check on Petfinder.com. You can find the piggies nearest to you.

There is a Facebook group with breeders across the USA and even in other countries.

I always got mine during fair time from the 4-H barn. Those kids work like crazy with their critters and its a good place to get both a healthy animal and support a good cause!

You may be able to get in contact with a 4-H group and see who does guinea pigs.

I'm so sorry about your guinea pigs. :( I used to have guinea pigs, too, and I know you must have been attached to them. One of mine was from a friend, and one was from a smaller, privately-owned pet store. They were pretty healthy. Maybe you'd have luck with a smaller pet store? Or, like the others have said, the SPCA. Or Craigslist? (You never know.)
