Owning more than one plush of a character?

I'm not the right person to answer this question. My biggest collection is my plushies. I have no problem with doubles of the same character. I probably have at least 50 different versions of Stitch! I'm collecting many of the new pony plushies that have been coming out this year. But I don't plan on collecting all the version from all the brands. I do have all the mane 6 from the Funrise 10 in size. I plan on buying all the BABW ponies. I would like to get all the Japanese plushies. I do want to get at least a couple from each brand.

If I took a picture of my plushie collection, I think most people's jaws would drop. LOL. I've collected plushies since I was born, practically, and I also have most of my brother's plushies in my collection. These days, I mostly only buy plushies of specific characters, and of fish and cats (my favorite animals), but good grief, I have a ton of beautiful plushies. I keep them all on the spare bed in my room, and they ... kind of overflow it like whoa.

I doubt your collection trumps mine. I can't fit my whole collection in one room! Rough guess... I would say I have at least 2-3 THOUSAND plushies with at least a couple hundred on my bed.

I've been conflicted with this too, especially the Funrise plushes with their funky manes. At the start, they were a lot better than the deformed troll hair ones we had of just Twilight and Pinkie (?), but now even better ones are coming out! The Build a Bear ones are lovely and the Ty ones are cute, tiny, manageable versions. And the Aurora ones are pretty cute too.

I already have a massive stuffed animal collection and it's just not practical to get all of them, of course. It's not very many people. But if not all, then which ones? This is where I get a little Twilight Sparkle neurotic. If I get one in the set, do I have to get all of them? If I get my favorite character in one set, should I get that character in every set?

I have the HUGE Funrise Fluttershy but I'm really tempted by the Build a Bear one, because I adore Fluttershy. However, I'd really like Twilight, too and those dolls are not cheap. >.< Argh.

I have plenty of plush Fluttershies and more coming in. I also ended up with a few Twilight sparkles even though she's not one of my favorite characters.

I dont mind just because I love plushies

The only duplicate I have currently is fluttershy (I have aurora and funrise versions)

Other than her I have: Funrise applejack, funrise pinkie, funrise dash, BAB spike, and BAB twilight

But I'd like to have all three TY plushies, the BAB fluttershy, aurora or funrise rarity, and the newly announced aurora sitting plush twilight.

I'd also totally get the 4DE plushies, but they're a little expensive.. maybe another time though.

I bond emotionally to my toys. I actually sometimes have this problem with just regular ponies. I don't really like displaying my Movie version Firefly and my original version Firefly in the same area because of this.
What I have done is sort of give my duplicates their own separate identity.

Yes, exactly, I bond emotionally too. My talking Twilight is my buddy and I don't like to think of bringing in another Twilight because I'll feel like I'm replacing her.

But I like your solution for duplicates! That's what I used to do when I'd get duplicate figures (by accident).

Everyone else: I love seeing your plushie collections and hearing your thoughts too! I do kind of wish the Build-A-Bear plushie was cheaper, as mentioned, as I don't know if I want to pay $25 for one item. But that's the way it goes sometimes.

Not pony related, but I have several plushies of Simba and Nala that are all different from each other and I know I'd not mind having more than one plush of my favorite ponies as long as each one of them was different too.

I personally have many multiple plushies... I dunno, I never thought about it - I like the smaller plushies personally, and think from now on I'm focusing on those, versus the huge Funrise ones or whatever... but, I like all the different ones. I don't have any BaB ponies but, I would get a Twilight if I ever went to BaB...

My main collecting interest for years was also plush, SailorStitch! I've since had to pare down my collection because it was simply too out of control to enjoy. It started to become obvious that I might never have the space to properly display them all, so a few have been sold and many are now bagged up in the attic for the winter (twenty two 75 liter recycling bags of them). What I kept is displayed in my room. They still overflow a teeny bit, but it's not so overwhelming that I'm WADING through plush ^^ I'm honestly not sure exactly how many I had before I thinned it down, but I am happier being able to actually enter my toy room. I don't purchase them quite as often now; when I do buy plush, they're special ones (my next will be a BAB Fluttershy!). I would take current photos, but my collection room is messy right now. I'm selling off some stuff and organizing some room for my newest collection (MH dolls) so I've got stuff on the floor and bare shelves ;>.>. The first two pictures in the spoiler below are 2010, and the third is 2011. By 2012 it was even crazier and I knew it had to stop

With previous generations I do have more than one of the same charector and also more than one of the exact same plush! But with the new generation I simply can't afford to buy more than I really want and also don't have the space either now.

I have a childhood plush Cotton Candy, still at my folks' home. And just last month I came across an identical plush Cotton Candy at Value Village. So yeah, I bought her. I also have a mini plush Sunny Daze and a Sunny Daze pillow buddy. I love stuffed animals a bit too much.
