Looking for some info from you wonderful doll collectors!!!

I have an original Samantha American Girls Doll and her Brass Bed... As far as I know she's in the "original Samantha outfit" and was barely played with, so is in very nice condition. I believe my mom said part of the bedding was missing, like the blanket or something, not entirely sure...

Does anyone know of a value on her and her bed? Any advice on selling them as far as - should I sell them together or separately? And, of course, if anyone here has interest, please do PM me... otherwise she'll probably be doomed to eBay... :)

Okay, here are the updated photos.
I did notice that she has The Pleasant Company stamped on her neck, and on her box. But she also has little stains on her body. She honestly was never played with - how will these marks affect her value? They don't affect her clothing or anything...
I also have this hardcover book and set of postcards...

Thanks!

EDIT:
I have now put Sam, her Brass Bed, a postcard booklet and a Child Size rabbit fur muff and tam (made by Pleasant Company) on ebay.

- I tried to make the doll and bed available for International purchase but the box is so awkwardly large that shipping seems outrageous. I wasn't given that "send it to a US mailing center to be shipped Internationally" option...

Does she have the white body?  She is retired, but the sales are going down a tad for these dolls.  I would say the complete, undamaged bed would certainly sell for 50.00-64.00 and the doll if mint with nothing wrong and white body 150.00 or more. If tan body and mint with nothing wrong...maybe 80.00 or less.  Sometimes the bed sells lower than expected.  I have seen them go for 20.00-30.00 sometimes even with all of their stuff.  This could be because the older the bed the more people will spend.

I'm sure she's probably white, no one was a smoker and she lived in her box carefully wrapped up at all times at my grandmothers house. All of her others dolls are in pretty nice condition, I just haven't pulled Sam out in a while... I hope maybe I can get a real photo of mine tonight! :) I do know my bed is as old as the doll is, got them at the same time, and yes the only thing I knew was that they were retired. I know with the "make your own doll look like you" thing, some of the original gals aren't worth as much but... I'd desperately like to rehome her because I can't stand seeing her stuck in this box anymore...

Thank you so much tula! I hope I can post a photo of mine and maybe you could give me some more info once I have an appropriate picture? :)

Just so you know white body means the fabric is white from the beginning.  These are the oldest dolls that were made with white torsos.  All other torsos from then on were a tan fabric.  Its not about smoke or dirt, Its the torso fabric not the arms and legs which are vinyl.  I also think the white torso dolls were made in Germany and the tan torso dolls in China.  The white are original Pleasant company before they changed the company.

Ooh! Thank you! I had no idea, I just figured you meant from age over the years!

Well, I do have a feeling she's not like - The Oldest doll - I don't even know when they started making American Girls Dolls? I'm sure it was before I was born regardless. :)

Edit: Idiot me posting before clicking the link... if she was released in 86, I may have the original... this is exciting mystery I will have to solve tonight!

I don't know, but kittybethy just made a post about needing a new mattress for her Samantha bed.  She probably doesn't want to buy the whole thing though.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

Yes 1980s for American Girl dolls. Had I known about them back then I would have asked mom to get me one even though I was a bit older.  She and I both collect them and love them. I have a Samantha and she is precious.

From the site you posted, I'm thinking she's like a 1988-89 WB Sam? We checked her wig edges, fingernails, ears, neck stamp (and of course, her white body)... I just want to be confident in trying to sell the RIGHT doll when I do go to sell her...

kpf - thanks hun! I probably won't sell the pieces of the bed separately though, I still am doing some research on the bed itself to see if I have the original bedding or what. :)

Yep she is highly desired. I believe you will make some nice money on that doll.  She is very special.  She has some staining so that will be a little bit of an issues, but collectors want these white body dolls.  Thanks for sharing her.  Their eyelashes are so different too.

A woman who has white body Samantha and owns a antique store near me is selling her for $400. It seems a bit ridiculous but people do buy her dolls so I guess some find it reasonable.
