MS Office Pro 2010 ~ Help with activation? Please
« on: October 04, 2013, 09:58:37 AM »
Let me start by saying that I apologize in advance if I'm not allowed to ask about this here, please feel free to let me know and lock the thread. I actually don't know if I'm allowed to ask

So anyways, I had Office Pro 2010 the full activated version on my last laptop, however the motherboard and something else got completely fried so we had to get a new laptop. Long story short, we were assured that our new laptop had the full version of Office, it turns out that it runs out in 2 days.

So I've spent the last 3 hrs trying to get the this activated so that I have the full version and I'm not having any luck. The information that I used to activate the previous copy wont work and I don't have whatever program is used for torrents.

So I'm curious if anyone has any other ideas, suggestions, tips or tricks that  they would be interested in sharing?

from what I've heard that one must buy the activation key to get it to run off trial- and what I'm saying next I don't know how true it is;  that after that (buying the key) that one must pay for it every year. ( Like I said I don't know how true that one is) but from were
I volunteer @ they had to buy the key   even though was installed on the computers  they bought but it was only a trial version. I hope that helps.

I hope you can get this sorted. I does sound like you may have to pay to un-trial it though.

Try Openoffice! It's free software and just as good.

I've never heard of that, does it work pretty much the same? Thanks for the help guys :) I'm stubborn, so I'll probably be spending the weekend working on this :P

OpenOffice is amazing! I use it for every bit of writing I do - hours and hours.  I can help you with anything you need! We use it in my wife's office too.

Here's a tutorial where you can see what it looks like, and how to use it.

Thanks StoryDreamer :)

Will I be able to open any of my 2010 office pro documents on that? Or will I have to manually copy and paste everything and then resave it?

I'm guessing you will, I have yet to encounter a MS Office format that OO cannot open.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I went ahead and installed Open Office and I'm so happy that it opens all of my word documents :)
