Orange apple'd Applejack
« on: September 25, 2013, 05:17:58 AM »
My friends and I are having a debate regarding an Applejack (shy pose) with orange symbols instead of red apples. It doesn't appear to be a nirvana (the hoof symbols etc all state that its a normal pony).  Is this just fading color on the paint? Or is it a variant??

Does anyone have any more info on this girl??

Fading. There may have been some differences between paint batches but her apples do fade over time.

Fading/colour leaching is most common in shades of red through purple. That is all it will be. It happens a lot with AJ :)

Also G1 AJs symbols are a very dark [almost red] orange not as vibrant red as the G4 version. So you have a yellow content to the pigment which means that as the red pigment in the paint fades, you can be left with a more orangey and eventually yellow colour.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Sorry to bump this thread out of the grave but I saw an Applejack on ebay just now which reminded me strongly of the question. If you search "My Little Pony Applejack Pat. Pending" there should be a shy pose AJ listing from the UK. Her symbols show a very unique gradient - faded yellow at the top, orange in the middle, and one red down the bottom. My guess is somebody displayed her in a place that got a very specific angle of sunlight each day, and it shows clearly that lighter symbol coloration is due to fading.
