I was interviewed about my collection!

Maybe it depends how you class a large collection? Total number of ponies, total value of collection, how complete a collection is?

I was just looking at total number of ponies, not counting doubles. Value fluctuates wildly, and judging on "completeness" doesn't seem fair as different people have different collecting goals.

So just on number then? I think there are certainly a dozen or so collectors up at that kind of mark if the posts I have seen over recent years and conversations are any indication. But I dont think all of them are either very active on the Arena and certainly 1 of them is not on any forums that I know of at all. I have seen a couple of people post about the high 2000 and even into 3000 once although what collections consist of I am not sure. What and where people consider doubles or even consider "ponies" may sometimes be an issue on number I guess. Is China and Hong Kong Tux n Tails, 1 pony or 2 ponies, are blind bags counted? That kind of thing.

Yeah everyone collects differently. I count NC sundance as a different pony, but not hong kong vs. China, where as some might, as well as PP vs. NPP, or all of them if they exist! Some people might only collect one cotton candy, but some might collect FF & CF, Some might collect FF, MO, and the CF earth pony release. The same with the Bowties, AJ's, Medleys, etc... long vs. short hair, nirvanas... and the list goes on.

I personally have 400 brushables in my core collection. there are a few doubles that hang around on top of that, childhood ponies and ponies that just appeal to me despite not being upgrades. Plus petites, ponyvilles, blindbags, plush, G3 So Softs and merch figures. Then there's the massive piles of doubles, baits, trade ponies... I probably have close to 800 all in. No wonder my husband gets frustrated, lol...

Oh my gosh no! You are miles ahead of the vast majority of collectors in sheer number alone. Most Arena polls seem to put the average in the 200-300 mark We are talking about a handful of people up at that kind of figure and only 2 or 3 higher that I have ever heard of.
