Flocking supplies?
« on: September 08, 2013, 05:07:05 PM »
Hey fellow customizers and restorers,

What do you use to do flocking on a pony and where do you buy it?

I did see a picture tutorial last night however the supplies that were used weren't named, so I'm kinda lost as I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Also is mod podge the go to for flocking or are there other alternatives as well?

Thanks in advance, I didn't see anything in the customs information, supplies and tutorials about this, so I figured I would ask.

Flocking is sold at Michaels. Not sure about what type of glue people use.

It seems as though a lot of the craft stores are phasing out their flocking supplies these days.  I used to be able to get it at A. C. Moore and Michaels, but I haven't seen it lately aside from two lonely packs in the clearance bin a month or two ago, and I've never spotted it in the local Hobby Lobby or Joanne's.  I've since started buying it Fowl Flockers.  You get a HUGE amount for a decent price, and it works out to be comparable to buying it in a store after shipping.

For glue, I use Mod Podge.

Modge Podge is nice b/c is dries clear and is thick enough to "grab" the flocking without being runny.  (Have to watch the amounts though, it can drip if there is too much.) It will peel off the pony if you make a mistake, you can completely un-peel what you've done and try again.
