Yellowed hair, body discolouration and head/body mismatch?
« on: August 23, 2013, 06:23:14 AM »
What are the options to 'cure' these? I've tried whitening toothpaste on the 'yellowed' hair. Originally pink, it's turned white and discoloured to yellow, and the whitening toothpaste hasn't worked thus far.

Next, head/body mismatch? Ideas?

And finally, a purple pony, now greyish faded purple, any ways to sort this?

I've never had a pony with yellowed hair so I'm not sure what to suggest. But I know the purple to grey body fade is not fixable :(

Ah ok, never mind, that's not too bad on my pony thankfully :)

For hair, you can try rit-rust remover. Sunfading the hair, but keep a good watch on it so it doesn't dry out. Or I would suggest a light re-pinking.

Head body mismatch, wrap hair around the neckline or make a cute necklace, it helps to break up the discoloration so it's not as obvious. You may be able to sunfade if it's a yellowish discoloration, if it's a type of dye fade (purple ponies) nothing you can do.

As for the greyish body, I've had many a pony with it (blossom-ugh) and have tried a really thorough scrub with antibacterial soap and then magic eraser, sometimes it helps...

I would give the ponys hair a very low power peroxide soak to get it white again, and then re-pink it, it would damage the hair a little though.

You wont be able to fix the head/body mismatch unfortunately and the greying body would need a dye.

As to the hair you can try soaking it in lemon juice and then popping it out into sunlight that always works for me :) Dont leave it exposed too long as the hair can go brittle but also you will need a nice intense blast of UV. As long as its discolouring and not a break down of the nylon it should work.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Yes, I've sunfaded hair. Also, you can *potentially* sunfade the more-discolored body part to lessen the obviousness of the head-body-mismatch. I've done it, although it's not a perfect fix and doesn't always work.
