Rehairing disaster!
« on: July 28, 2013, 04:07:04 AM »
Argh, I was doing my first ever rehair using the needle and thread method on a baity winger, and the holes at the back of her neck have split and merged into one centimetre long slit!

Is my rehair project salvageable?

Don't worry, just finish the rehair (be careful!) and apply some glue to the gap when you're done if needed. :)

That's what I do, just kind of get some hair in along that slit and finish rehairing then just make sure that I put plenty of glue behind that section.

Ditto! You can try to use fabr-i-tac to seal it from the inside and outside (get it down in those rooting holes good and let it dry for 48 hours. I have saved a few splits this way. Try rooting to the side with the tool prongs -- this way instead of up and down. You can also make new holes with a poking needle or a push pin and root to the side of them or outside the original roots to hide it.
