So I recently ordered some G1's for our own personal collection, it was my understanding that these ponies were in great to excellent condition with just a need for a light cleaning.

Now I've already left feedback which I wish I had waited to do since I'm not too thrilled as I feel as though I was mislead on the conditions of the ponies.

In any event, not so concerned about that. I just need to know how to clean them up, I just tried a baby wipe (that's my go to) and it really made no difference.
The one pony looks as though the dirt is badly ground into her, i don't even know if there is a way to clean her up nice.

I'm so sad about this

Have you got any magic erasers? Those can really do wonders. What kind of dirt is it? If it's like marker stains or something like that, then I would probably sunfade. Cancer is pretty much the only thing even a stubborn restorer can't get off, so don't give up yet.

Magic Eraser

or

Soft Scrub

or

toothpaste

They all do the same thing. ;)

Thanks for the advice guys, there is definitely marker and ground in dirt, no cancer spots. I guess I'll know better to ask for a ton of pics instead of one and a very detailed description. It's my mistake, as I've been on here long enough to know what to ask about. i just figured a fellow collector would know what to divulge.

I'm gonna try the magic eraser and toothpaste and see if that helps at all.

Marker can only be removed within fading, and can take up to two years.

Well we tried everyone's suggestions and she still looks filthy, I'm certain the dirt is just ground right into her. Would sun fading help with that at all? Any other tips or tricks guys?

I usually use a toothbrush I cleaned up and reserve for scrubbing up ponies.

Sunfading should help. Maybe you could take a picture of her so we could see what exactly we are dealing with?

You can use really hot water to help open up her pores, just be careful when handling her when she is hot because it can squish them. I use hot water and mild dish soap with a Magic Eraser. Seemed to help when I cleaned up a dark colored Quarterback very nicely. Also it might just be discoloration so sunfading would be the next option depending on the pony...

I'll try and take a pic later and post it, and we'll try the hot water, soap and magic eraser :)

Oh, and you should probably take a look at the ongoing most dirty pony -thread, since people there are talking about how they cleaned their ponies.

I agree with elish2, if its in ground dirt it will be removable - it just can take a lot of elbow grease and scrubbing.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
