I found this poor little Baby Fifi at a second hand shop yesterday. Her main issue is that her two front feet have been burned/melted a bit by something. Is this fixable at all? I don't see how, unless you add a layer of clay or something to smooth them out again? Then bake, repaint, blah blah blah. She also has a chopped forelock and an extremely dry/frizzy tail.

I already own a Baby Fifi, but I just couldn't leave her in that shop you know? I guess my other question would be...would she be any use to a customizer even? I don't think it's worth the effort to ME to restore her, but would she be to anyone else?

Her body looks great otherwise! In fact, her colors and symbols are much more vibrant than my own Baby Fifi. It's just those other flaws that bring her down.

I'm sure that somebody would love to have her in their collection as is.

I personally wouldn't bother baiting her because you'd have to do something with her front legs - probably involving cutting them off and resculpting which is a lot of effort.

I think I already have a Baby Fifi somewhere that needs a bit of work but I can't pass up a poor pony that needs a little TLC XD
The hair problems is an easy fix, the legs on the other hand are a bit hmm of a challenge but I'm sure something can be done!

I would suggest maybe using course sand paper to even out the worst of it then using superfine sandpaper (around 1k) to polish it up again. wont be perfect but might help disguise the deformity a bit. and a touch less extreme than a full resculpt.

I'd be happy to try and fix her up myself. I don't have a baby fifi that isn't in terrible condition. The one I have has turned grey, the symbols are faded and it has a name written in sharpie across the whole side of the pony, the eyes are scuffed, the blush is gone, and it has a forelock trim....

I have however, done work with ones that have completely chewed up legs... and I ended up making them into a color inverted version of the pony... I had a TAF Sundance who's legs were not savable to restore, but I still retained her look somewhat by just inverting her colors.

When I opened this thread I expected a really mangled pony! She's adorable, maybe not restorable, but definitely baitable :)

I think she would be easy to restore! I would always restore even the most common ponies, but thats just my opinion. :)

Her tail just needs some conditioner, and some new hair for her forelock. I just managed to fix awful bitemarks from a pony with a soldering iron and fine sandpaper, so I bet you could easily fix her feet too! You can easily smooth chew marks etc by heating up the plastic. But when I look at the pictures, I bet just sandpaper would be enough.

She's not bad at all. Maybe she'll never be perfectly perfect, but I think with a little work she would be just fine on a less picky collector's shelf. I would probably do a complete rehair, the new forelock will otherwise stand out too much and the tail looks pretty frizzy too.

Oh shes defiantly baitable if not restorable. ^.^

I think you could probably get away with sanding her feet and painting over her for bait fairly easy.

Cool, thanks for the input guys! I really like the sandpaper idea and will give that a try.

I'm kind of tempted to also give her my other Fifi's tail if the sanding works out fairly well since this one's body and symbol are so much brighter. If I could fix her legs so it's not so obvious, and her tail...I wouldn't really mind the forelock cut so much and she could stay in my collection. After all, the majority of my collection came from thrift stores and fleamarkets over the years, so I have quite a few that aren't "minty".

Ok, today I took her on as my little project. The sandpaper worked really well to even out the surface of her feet and make the burns much less noticeable. I then traded her super frizzy tail with my other Baby Fifi's tail. Then I rehaired the forelock plugs that had been chopped with hair from my other Baby Fifi. She looks much better now, eh?

She also got a ribbon because now she's special! ;) You can still see there was some damage of course on her legs, but it's not nearly as bad as it was (especially in person). She is definitely taking the place of my old Baby Fifi in my collection now. Thanks again for all the advice guys! She really wasn't hard at all to restore, and still counts as an upgrade. ^-^
