So much for just misplacing a shoe. It's half the leg.
Plenty of parents are probably going to find that annoying, in years to come. A bunch of peg leg dolls minus lower leg/shoes lying around.

I don't think snap on feet are any cheaper than regular shoes, I think they went with them because it's easier to design. This way they don't have to worry about how the feet will be shaped when not wearing shoes. But then again they probably didn't have time to figure it out because these seem kinda rushed like they were in a hurry to get them out while MH was still relevant.

Um, what you just explained actually sounds like the reason why it is cheaper for a company to do it that way.

If you don't have to spend a lot of design time figuring out how to design the shoes or design them around the feet, and how to make the different styles fit on the fit and/or stay on then it is cheaper.  Also if you just cookie cutter every single pair of shoes for every character the same way...then you've cut your design time and production time down by a LOT. Then all you do is paint them differently.

For a large manufacturer this means it's cheaper. Even with a redesign, now they only have to make every single pare of shoes fit on the leg the same way. They don't have to design different straps or attachments to make the shoes stay on, it just snaps into the peg.

Probably doesn't own a stolen piece of the Taj Mahal.

Karen:  That surprises me you have trouble with your Bratz because I have Bratz too...about 100...and don't bother with stands except for the collector Trinity and Katya.  I'm wondering if it's because mine are displayed with their backs to the wall, if when they get shaken the wall catches them, because it's very rare for them to fall over.

Yes, kids lose snap on feet too, but when I go to the thrift store, I see about half the Bratz with feet/shoes on.  I don't think I've ever seen a Barbie still wearing her shoes.

However, if snap on feet are cheaper, that would make even more sense for the decision....better than a "special feature" (ie no more shoes falling off as you play).

I honestly don't mind the peg-feet, if only because it makes it easier for the EG dolls to share shoes with other doll lines.  Besides, they look cute with shoes on and I wouldn't want to display them barefoot even if I could.  Can you imagine how they'd look barefoot?

I meant that it wasn't cheaper from a manufacturing point of view. However I still stand by the idea that they went with the pegs because it was quicker. They wanted to get these out while Monster High was still relevant. While they are cute you can tell they don't have the years of planning put into them that Monster High did. At the very least they did manage to avoid unmatching skin tones by doing boots since it is one of my biggest peeves with peg feet.

I love being barefoot, so my dolls (the few I own) tend to go barefoot as well.  As such, I can't deal with not being able to choose to have them be barefoot.  Maybe if they release them in the future with snap on feet I'll pick them up.

That is exactly what happened.

Still-  I like the dolls.  Their hair is soooooo fabulous!  They look cute too- standing next to my ponies.  I'm okay with the shoes after my initial shock- it's not like I take their shoes off anyway, and I like that they can stand up unaided.  It's also so much easier to swap the boots around

(I had some cute boots for my Integrity doll and it took me 10 full minutes to wrestle those buggers off and back on again)

Wow. I was not intending to get the dolls, and the loose a shoe- loose half a leg thing just makes them a total no. Also, it really seems like a total marketing ploy, like how littlest pet shops suddenly had Blythe dolls to go with them. I won't be surprised if exclusive ponies start showing boxed up with the equestria dolls. If that happens, I just don't know what I'd do to get the pony without the doll. Knowing hasbro and their past it is bound to happen :/

Well, as long as the shoes stay on it's okay I guess, heh.
