Do You Believe in Ghosts?

My grandmother passed away in October, it was late at night/early morning and I woke up from a deep sleep at the same exact time the nursing home said she passed, the phone rang 5 minutes later and I just knew.  I took it as a sign of her saying goodbye.

That said, I definitely believe in a subtle psychic connection between close human beings. May not be ghost related, but still fits the supernatural theme.

I do. When I was a baby, before my dad left, they rented a house with a central room with two doors. It was a small room, and they used it for storage. One door had a drawbolt on the inside, the other had a lock and one key, an old, heavy lock - the kind not readily pickable. Mum had lots of old dresses, embroidery supplies and art that she kept in there, all in big wooden chests. Dad was pretty flaky, and she was worried he'd pawn her valuables, so she kept the key on her. Every morning they'd wake up and both doors would be open, despite the door with the drawbolt being blocked with stuff that hadn't been moved. Mum couldn't figure out how else it could have happened, nothing had been moved, no marks in the dust, etc... spirits was the only explanation. One night they went out and came home to find both doors open as usual... but they'd been broken into and all her chests of stuff were gone. Damn ghost.

When my nana died, we had some activity again. My mum woke up at 1am, all of a sudden desparate to find a letter from my pop that he'd written her in the war and that she'd wanted buried with her. When my uncles turned up together the next morning, she collasped. She hadn't wanted to believe she was right. A year later, on the 1st anniversary of her death, I happened to be having a sleepover. We were sitting in the loungeroom when a music box nana had given me started to play... despite not being wound up.

My hubby has also had some spiritual experiences. His grandparents were gardeners, and his nan gave him a hibiscus clipping for his garden when he was a teenager, and it grew into a small shrub, which now lives near our clothesline. When his nan died, it flowered one bloom, despite never flowering before. He was sure that was from his nan, but we thought it could have been a fluke, because it had never flowered since.  However, when her husband died, it flowered again, just the one bloom again. Strange. But what's stranger, is the following season, it started to flower, and flowered year round for a whole year, before starting to flower normally. Now we have the most normal hibiscus tree, but it's just amazing that it did what it did beforehand.

I believe in ghosts.  When I was 9 or 10, I had a paranormal experience.  At least... I think it was.  Backstory: My grandmother's house was built just before the end of WW2 so it's OLD.  My grandfather was a nasty alcoholic and shot himself in the backyard in the 60's.  The house has this BIG back bedroom.  When my grandmother was still alive, the bedroom had a few pieces of junk furniture, two queen-sized beds, a walk-in closet, and a full bathroom.  That was my grandfather's room.  There was always something about that room that I was drawn to but, at the same time, I was afraid of.  Like, whenever I had to sleep in that room, I'd have to leave the bathroom light on.  As I got older, I grew more and more convinced that my grandfather's spirit resided in that room.  My grandmother died and my cousin bought the house, so I never really got to investigate.

Now, my original story:  The house is tiny and I have a big family.  When the family would gather at the house for the holidays, some of us had to sleep on the couches or on the floor in the den.  I always slept on the floor in front of the TV because that's where I would just end up in the morning.  The TV sat next to a door that lead into one of the bedrooms which stayed closed most of the time.  One night I woke up for some reason and saw that the door was open.  Not only that, there was a dark figure standing in the doorway surrounded by this bright halo of light.  I immediately shut my eyes and went back to sleep.  To this day, I still don't know if I was dreaming or not and I haven't told anyone in the family about it (I'm already labeled as "the weird one").

I never had a expierence of ghosts but I do believe in them just like I believe in UFO's I seen one back in 1999
