- UPDATED - Is it okay to customize these?
« on: April 02, 2013, 01:49:04 AM »
UPDATE: Sundace TAF and the purple German fakie (seems to be a pretty common one, btw) are available for sale or trade (preferably white or blue g3/g4 baits) - if you are interested PM me, and please keep in mind that I live in Europe and don't have the money to pay for shipping to/from the US, so trading only possible with people located in Europe ;)
For condition, see description and pictures below.
If nobody claimed them by end of July I might start customizing Sundance during my holidays :D
----------------------------------------------------
I got my hands on a small bunch of ponies in pretty good condition for really cheap, and I'm not sure if it would be okay to mess around with all of them.
As far as I know I got
- Lily Lightly (some scratches, very tangled hair)
- Sundance TAF (legs are a little deformed so she has trouble standing, some pen marks on chest and under one hoof, some small random specks of dirt and reddish colour) UPDATE: I managed to get her standing again, but not perfect)
- Cheerliee #2 (looks okay so far)
- Pinkie Pie V (random specks of reddish colour, glittery part of hair is pretty frizzy)
- Baby Yo-Yo (deep scratch in the neck, seems as if someone chopped the head off and glued it back in place as there is some glue across one side of the body as well, tail rust, green speck on one leg)
- some random dark purple pony with mane and tail about the same colour, cutie mark consists of three yellow-ish hearts; I think it's a G1 fakie

I'm no expert but I bet there are people who would swap much baitier ponies for some of those if you wanted to trade. Baby Yo-yo looks adorable, and that Purple pony is really interesting. Sundance's marks might be sunfade-able too. I dunno though. Wait for some more expert opinions.

They are your ponies at the end of the day, and yours to do with as you wish. Perhaps ask if people have ponies in similar poses to trade first?

Thanks :) The probem ist that I live in Germany, and shipping would be really expensive to most parts of the world, so I don't know if anyone would be willing to pay the postage for both packets in the case of a swap - cause I can't afford sending a pony to the states or some place like that.
I don't think I'll part with the baby (unless someone offers me at least two other babies in return :D), and I'll try to find out more about the purple one - it is made from pretty soft plastic and has some kind of unreadable mark under the hoof where originals have the "My little Pony" stamp, I think I'll post a picture of that when I get home! A German fakie made in an original mold maybe? *g*
What does "sunfade-able" mean, do I have to put it out in the sun until something like a colour change happens? Sundance and Cheerliee are already included in some plans involving their base colour, so I'd need similar ponies in case of a swap :D
I'd be willing to give away the Pinkie Pie for a baitie plus a packet of neon green or blue dollyhair.
The light-up pony might end up wired to a mini-computer as an output indicator for morse code or something like that ... cause I have no clue what else to do with her.

In case anyone is interested in one or two of the ponies, please send me a picture of the baities you have to offer. Plus, tomorrow or so two other parcels will arrive here, so I might be able to offer some other weird stuff. I believe I managed to get a Bubblefish missing her pocket (and accessoires).

Honestly the only one u would even hesitate on customizing would be baby yoyo. G3 ponies are all bait fodder as far as I'm concerned. I have been working on customizing a lily lightly, its a pain and i have done quite a lot of cussing while doing it, she doesn't come apart as far as I have been able to determine which is aggravating because I want to root the tail.

Sundance is common, though I am not sure how common tag Sundance is... I customized one but she was chewed up so bad I had to pretty much resculpt her legs.

The fakie I have seen before, and as far as I know pinkie and cheerilee are common too.

As I said, baby yoyo is the only one I personally would hesitate on.

I'd love to give Yo-Yo a new tail though, it's so rusty, but the head won't come of because as I said, someone chopped it off and glued it back in place :(

Try boiling her in water, it should soften the plastic and glue and Ruth some careful work you may be able to pry the head off :)

and you can always be very very very careful with an Xacto knife and gut thru the old glue. takes steady hands and patience to not cut the vinyl tho. so id try boiling first.

Thanks, I'll try that (whenever I will get my hands on some hair, not ready to order the expensive stuff right now). Oh, btw, I just found out that Sundance's hair has some streaks that turn purple under sunlight (and back to white when put under hot water), that's funny ^^

The second lot has arrived yesterday while I was away!
- Sunny Daze (?) (a bit dirty, but overall okay)
- Butterscotch (very good condition imo, and too cute to customize her ... yet^^)
- Bubblefish (pocket and fish are missing, tail and mane seem to be cut a bit and are very dry and matte and tousles at the ends ... if she isn't worth much she'll qualify as my test subject, since I don't like her pose) http://fav.me/d609wsi

If you are wanting to get rid of Bubblefish I will take her off your hands as I love that pose. I have quite a few baits if you are interested in a trade?

Bubblefish is on her way to her new home now ;) But the last lot I shot on ebay arrived, so now there is a parade of glittery G3.5 creatures in my living room now ... http://fav.me/d60i6c9
... a glittery Cheerilee with a lot of hair (in two ponytails), one Sweetie Belle with glitter and one without, Starsong (?), and Rainbowdash with skirt.
I have no clue whether they are very common or pretty rare. To be honest, I never saw a G3.5 before today! On the blurry picture in ebey they looked like G4s, which are a little prettier ... but nevertheless they all would serve well as bases for my dream of ultimate nerd-ponies^^

Random note:
Whoever it was who posted somewhere on this board about turning fabric ribbons into hair is a freaking genius! (forgot the name of both person and thread, arrg)
I got myself a bunch of green ribbon and look at this pretty not-yet-flattened tail :D http://fav.me/d60i6el

I would say they are all safe to customize - baby yoyo is not so uncommon and with a deep gouge in her neck area most collectors will probably not want her :( But her body color is lovely and that pose is so adorable for customs. Everyone will have their own opinion but its good to always check especially if you are unsure
