Donating a desktop?

I have a Dell desktop that works fine and I hauled it up from Florida to Ohio when I moved here, but I really don't use it. It can still connect and stuff, and I think I want to donate it to a Goodwill or something. Would they take desktops? Have you ever donated one? Can I just put it in my car and drive it up there?

Find your local charities - a quick sweep of a hardcopy of your Yellow Pages should tell you what you're looking for.    Look for disadvantaged children, veterans, seniors, families in need, education/literacy programs...  Call your local IT shops - NOT the BestBuy and Staples brick-and-mortar stores... 

Or contact a charity and see if they would like it as a workstation for an employee/volunteer!  Animal charities are usually grateful for this sort of thing.

Schools also may accept donated computers in working order, as well as charities.

I've donated a few desktops to our Goodwill! I think it depends on the individual GW itself.
