Pony Pool Party
« on: June 25, 2013, 10:00:42 AM »
Um, I have a question  :)
My mother recently bought a swimming pool for our little, 3 person family and I'm of course uber excited about it...that means my ponies get to have a pool party! :D but the thing is, my boyfriend scared me with the thought that my ponies may melt, due to the chlorine and other chemicals in the pool. So now I'm apprehensive about it :s
But here's the thing; this wouldn't be the first time my ponies have been in a swimming pool, they were in a pool when I was at my friends' house due to a slumber party, and they didn't melt then  maybe its because I immediately washed them off with regular water and soap afterwards :o

But my question is: will my G3s and G4s melt from pool water? Or as long as I wash them off afterwards they should be ok?
Oh no!

They should be fine I imagine. There are so many pvc toys/ things that get tossed in pool. I think the only thing to worry about is the water left in the ponies. The metal clip that holds the tail in place might create unwanted corrosion overtime.

Chlorine won't "melt" the plastic that ponies are made of, but there is a chance that it can fade some of the paint/dyes that are on them with prolonged exposure to heavily-chlorinated water. The chemicals in the pool might dry out some of the nylon hair, although this is more speculation on my part.

I agree, I've taken tons of toys in the pool with me with no incident-even brushable ones. Like Cron said, you do have to look out for tail rust, which can be prevented by replacing the metal washer with plastic ties--it's up to you if you want to do so. I usually wash my ponies' hair after exposing them to pool water to rinse out the chlorine, just like I do my own.

Oh don't worry, I always wash my ponies after having them in the pool ^_^ and I make sure all of the water's out by squeezing them  (well the majority of water comes out, then I shake my ponies Xs) and I don't have the heart to rip off my ponies' heads and replace their tail rings :(

And I'll NEVER leave my ponies outside O.O

Agree 100% with this as I took my Posey outside on a bright sunny day in 1985.  Even although it was only for a few hours, her hair turned pale pink   This was long before I knew anything about 'fading' pink, but I tended to keep the rest of my ponies with similar coloured hair out of the sun.

This! Its only pro longed exposure you really need to worry about and if you are cleaning them after then I would not worry at all. However, you also need to remember that they are not designed for swimming pools so if you have a little fading over time then that would be normal considering the adventures they had.

Also be aware that you are risking tail rust in them if they get wet. You may want to remove metal washers before they go swimming :P
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Hmmm, I'd say Don't take
So Softs,
Twinkle Eyes G1,
Light Pink hair G1,
Brush And Grows G1,
Happy Tales G1,
Glitter Sprayed like G4 wisteria,
G3 Jewel Pony,

And of course any one that's rare.

I'd say to drain the ones you will be useing try to keep the tale holes upside down and on a towel. you will have to balance them so they will stay..maybe try putting to glass cups on ether side of their body.

heres a fun idea!
Try useing bling bag ponies as sinkers and have you or your friends family dive for them. whoever has the most will win. Its a grate way for everyone to bond with you and your collection and interest!

(no glittery Blind Bags)
