Has anyone ever seen this happen?

Basically, ordered some items a week ago, watching the shipping progress, and see that yesterday my items are out for delievery. What joy! I check the mail, and yes, there is a package. Once again, what joy! However I am busy and can not open the package til today.

Upon handling it, I notice it is rather...light. Like, something is missing here. I open it up, reach inside and....

It's a different thing I ordered!

My package? Somehow, someway, went from out for delivery to processed through a sorting facility...out of state. Again. I don't think it's lost, and chances are I'll see it tomorrow unless USPS decides to ship it to New Jersey for some reason, or it gets stuck on some never ending möbius loop of delivery and processing.

How does something like this even happen?

Yes- TRU sent me some baby seat once.  I also got my toys- but the baby seat was baffling.  It was a hassle to get it sent back too.

I got some boots from Gap once and they sent me the child size of the boots... that was also a hassle to deal with... I'm so sorry that your package got mixed up, hopefully it'll get turned around quickly to you!

And now it's not in my local post office. I'm guessing the seller must have written my address wrong, but only so wrong that they knew what city it had to go to but not house or street number, most likely house number, as I have gotten letters addressed to my house but started the street name with a B and not a D. If it does go back, I'll see what they'll do to make it right before rushing to negative town.

Also had a different auction I won get cancelled since someone apparently bought the item but ebay didn't kill the auction dead right than and there. Seller refunded me back, not a huge deal as it isn't a rare or a super deal, but seriously ebay what are you doing?

Unsure if positive or neutral feedback deserved for that one. I didn't get it, but he did refund me.

Edit: Packaged arrived today. I still want to know how and why it went from my local post office to out of state and back to me.
