I\'m shocked, so is she really -is- a Lanard!?

Ok don't know if this should be off topic or not but it's about a pony so...

A while back I asked people if they knew if Lanard made Flocked Ponies... A pony like this white one

I think the answer I got was "don't know/unsure" but that was a while back... Well I always assumed she was a fakie of the Lanard Fakies... So I go about deflocking her to do something with here and guess what I uncovered oh one of her front hooves...

Lanard

Hidden under that thick layer of glue and flocking :faint:

I had no idea that was there, and the fact she is a bit larger than the other in the photo... I naturally assumed she was a knock off..

So with this info, is she really a Lanard or did a company boot leg the pony mold and just not remove the imprint (opting to cover it with flocking instead?)

Actually the stamping isn't quite the same... but I'm also assuming that they slightly changed the stamp for later years

She is probably real.  Even mlp are marked before covered with flocking.

These ponies are older than the party ponies, which is when the lanard pony line became popular, so I'd say they're the real deal. There's a foal that's flocked in grey with white curly hair, also in a genuine lanard pose- they're the corresponding mommy/baby poses as well, so I'd say they're genuine.

*EDIT* Just thought I'd add I got mine 2nd hand in about '92/93.

Thanks Stormness, I wasn't sure as since mine is bigger than the sea party one if the flocked was a fakie. I also noticed the flocked didn't have a 'Made in' stamp... I wonder if that was common for them.

I have seen flocked Lanards in the past but never seen one side by side for size comparison so thats interesting to know they are a little larger. As mentioned its probably because they are a slightly earlier release.

Yep, they get shorter with each release it seems! The flocked ones I'm assuming came first, then the 1st party ponies, the pastels without forelocks were released, then the full set of party ponies, Pintos, Palominos (the new mummy and baby moulds) and new Pastels with forelocks and more 'pastel' colours, then the next line with the wedding party, perfume ponies and then the shimmery symbol'ed ponies, (introducing the new sitting baby and 'teen' moulds) then the quality dropped and I stopped buying them, so I lost track after that, but it seems there were a lot of fakies released about that time, which are extremely prone to plasticiser breakdown, unlike the real lanards. Then they came out the other side with more new poses, the walking pony, and the surfing ponies, etc.

Hope it's ok if I borrow your thread. I found a brown pony in a lanard mold on ebay. Is it real? Search for "Large Job Lot of Vintage 1980s Hasbro My Little Pony & Accessories" on ebay uk.

wow, I've never seen her before! If you win her, you'll have to post pics of her, although her tail looks like it's rooted the same way, and is the same type as the flocked lanards, so at this point, I'd say yes.

Oh and then send me that Snuzzle. <3 LOVE!

I think I'll have to hit up that thrift store again and see if she's still there tomorrow. I can't find flocked Lanards anywhere else.

The brown one is a real Lanard.

The flocked ones are aswell.

I had a grey flocked one with white hair (adult) at one point. But no-one here wanted her so I donated her to charity in the end.
wanted G1 WEDDING/LOVE pony accessories and merchandise, ARGIE GREEN TRULY, ARGIE PEARLY-PAINTED NOVIA:

gah, I mustn't have been around then. (or was just avoiding the sales forums like the plague, as I do on occasion!) I would have taken her!
