Digital Scales
« on: May 08, 2013, 02:54:33 PM »
Any ones better then others?  Worth getting one?  Have had some issues recently with being off weight wise with my old style scales and was wondering if they are worth the price to get.  My PO is close but it is annoying to have to, stand on line to just check a weight.  Plus they are not open at 6 in the morning or 11 at night which is sometimes when it seems I get stuff packed. LOL

So any input is welcome.

I bought a scale a couple of months ago. I think to spend 30-60 on a decent scale would save you the gas it would take you to go back and forth to the p.o just to get an estimate and then another trip to send off your packages. Very worth the money to acquire one I think! Especially having the option of having the post man pick up your packages at your door is a plus, although I haven't personally tried it myself. Taking your time, no lines and doing business at the convenience of your home, what more can you ask for?  :P Its a win all around! Check this site out: http://www.quicksupply.net/, I purchased my scale through them and had no issues. Package only too a few days to come. Amazon has good prices though, some of the feedback on there for certain brands where a little discouraging so I went elsewhere.

I'm curious about digital scales as well. Like Diamond, I have been off on my shipping estimates and have had to eat the cost before. :/ Not awesome.

My only concern with one of those is how small the weighing part is, some of the stuff I ship is large.

I bought a getzy scale to weigh my daughter when she was a bubba. It's big and bulky, but accurate!! Plus can be used for big packages

Ah yes, that would be a concern for heavier things. :)

Mine is Brecknell...I think? I purchased it at an office store. It works wonderfully. I tried out several, including kitchen scales, this was the best in my opinion as far as accuracy.

Mine is a super cheap £8.99 digital scale mom got for me years ago - i dont remember the make! I think mom got it from Aldi!! . but its always been very accurate and its good for heavy stuff as well as light :awake:  you dont always have to go for the most expensive brands to get a decent one.
Its definitely worth getting one though - its saves time (you dont have to go to the PO for an accurate weight) and money (you dont mess up shipping quotes  or have a shock at the PO!)

Mines a cheaply from amazon, it's a kitchen scale but it's accurate and very helpful. Only now here we need a tape measure as well as scales for Royal Mail's new silly rules *facepalm*

I've found a small basic Starfrit digital kitchen scale at Home Hardware that I'm going to go pick up tonight - regular $14.99 on sale for $9.97 - yay. Hoping it'll be good for what I need (mine are all extra ponies, so not very big), the reviews look good.

Thanks gang, I need big as model horses and antique stoneware boxes can get big and heavy to ship.

I shall have to take a look round and see what is local versus what is available online.
