In South Korea, what to look for- toys/collectibles
« on: April 30, 2013, 07:18:33 PM »
I'm currently in Korea visiting family in Seoul.  Now, I told my mom I don't want to spend my whole entire time shopping, and I believe the game plan is to visit other parts of Korea while I'm here.  So, not a whole of shopping.  However is there any toys such as ponies, transformers, joes, dolls, etc. that I should keep an eye out for?

I hope to visit the Toys R' US that they have here in Seoul (just to see what they have) and maybe a toy market while I'm at it.

If you're thinking of the Toys R Us at Cheongnyeongni, they don't have ponies, and their transformers are crazy overpriced. Korea has a lot of Gundam, but other than that, they don't have much.

What they DO have is modded game systems--look for those at technomart at Yongsan. You can get a modded system with a hard drive upgrade and they load it full of games for you. The games will be in Korean, and you probably can't get online or buy games online with them, but other than that, it's something like 10 bucks for them to put another 30 games on your drive when you go back.

Have fun!

Oh, I have no plans to buy anything at Toys R' Us, just wanted to compare their selection of stuff to the one at home.

What I'll be on the lookout for, however, is cutesy stuff especially stuffed animals.  (Used to collect them, not anymore now but if something appeals to me and the price is good, I' ll probably get it.)

Anyways, did get an cute Captain America mug earlier today.  Wanted Spider-Man but my mom was paying and thought that Cap. was cuter.  Can't make too much of fuss since she didn't have to get me any mugs.

Edit: Spider-Man shirt get!  I swear I can't resist the cutesy Marvel character stuff.
