I only just started combining purchases from sellers and I hadn't even noticed the request total button  i usually message them and ask for combined shipping. In my experience, which is quite recent in combining items for shipping, they don't require you to pay immediately if you buy several items from a seller, unless it specifically says so on the item description. I usually pay when I have the total and that has been fine thus far.

Abiut the stars, i usually leave positive feedback if I have no gripe about anything. the only stars that I might give less on are the ones that deal with communication. If I never receive any information either by message or email on the item, like that it has shipped etc, I don't give full stars, i might give one less.

If I am satisfied with everything, which is most of the time the case then I give 5 stars all the way.

I have overpayed on things too, it's frustrating when you notice you have made a mistake, but it happens and it's good it was only 4 USD.
