Non-paying bidder (ebay) *monsterhighhabbey18*
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:27:24 PM »
Ebay user monsterhighhabbey18 bid on and won a Monster High doll from me, which ended on April 6th. I sent her a message, letting her know that I would be packing up the doll and sending her a more accurate shipping cost within the invoice. Invoice was sent on the 7th (if I recall correctly). Having not received payment, or getting any sort of response to my message, I sent her another message this morning, the 11th, inquiring about the transaction.

Well I did not want to jump the gun and file a case, the fact that I still have not received a response led me to open a case with ebay.

I just wanted to put this out here in case she has been bidding on anyone else's items on ebay to be aware of the situation. I will let you know how the case resolves itself, but I am not holding out any hope of her getting back to me.

(I don't want to judge, as I've had good experience in the past with brand new ebayers, but the fact that she only joined ebay on the 5th was a red flag that's been nagging at me since the item ended.)

That certainly sounds.... convenient for the buyer, doesn't it??? What luck! An auction on an item I would like is ending the day after I join!   It's a little fishy to me. And of course it's a pain in the butt for you, because you can't get your money and can't just relist the doll until this is sorted out. Hmmmmn...... Definitely odd.

That's not a good way to start out on ebay! sounds like a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) account! I block newbies on most of my items, but knick-knacks and things (not collector items) I let them bid. I mean you have to start somewhere!

I am sorry to hear that. I also have been having issues with new accounts and them not paying. I wonder what these people get out of this kind of stuff? Sorry to hear that. I had about $100.00 worth of pony stuff bided on by a new person and they never sent payment. They did it to a lot of other people to. There account got closed. Now I am wondering when they are going to hit again.

I finally got a message from her this morning.

"Maybe next week, ok?"

Seriously? It's already been almost a week since the auctioned ended. I'm normally a nice person, and all about helping out newbies, but this is ridiculous! I probably would have been fine with it, if she had said something about not being able to pay sooner.

What do you guys think?

I'd go ahead an put in a non-paying bidder report with her.

There is no excuse for that, even if she is a newbie. You win the auction, you are obligated to buy. It's just a totally waste of time for the seller when they pull these stunts.

Plus, she seems to have an "I don't care" attitude. I wouldn't even count on getting it "maybe next week."

I'm not a softie, LOL.

Yeesh. Open a case and be done with it. Hopefully it will make her pay, or it will put a strike on her account so she can't bid on other auctions.

What doll were you selling?

I opened a case last night, so I'm good on that front.

Maniah:
I'm selling a Ghouls Alive Spectra that I had picked up, and decided to part with.

good on you! You can't bid on something and pay a few weeks later! That's so wrong! No money, don't bid, simple as that!

Gosh, I wish I could tell my landlord 'maybe next week, OK?' Unless the auction states  that you do holds and time payments you should have the cash before you bid.

I was able to close the case yesterday, and ebay removed the selling fee. So Spectra has been relisted. Hopefully she'll find a new home soon.

Anyway, should I bother leaving feedback? I find it likely that the person is just going to ditch the id and make a new one, which is why I ask. And if I do, what should I say?

With the case closed, it wont allow you to leave feedback.. and you can't legally leave negative feedback anyway :( Only option is positive, and a false positive can get you in trouble.
