I would not do it. They are a scam registry that registers dogs that can not been registered anywhere else. Much like continental kennel club. I wouldn't want to give them money to support their practices. Chances are it may not be correct anyway.

Love the pup and just do research next time.

Looks like joce is right. I just did a quick search and it is obviously a scam when they don't require anything that would be proof of the dog's lines. Plus having to pay all these extra fees seemed weird from the start, but I wasn't sure how others operated (like the AKC).
If it were me, I'd be happy with what I got so far, but don't give them any more money for something that may not even be legit.

Changed my mind now that you say the dog came from a pet store. More than likely a fake pedigree. I also wasn't paying attention late last night that you put ACA and not AKC.

That makes sense. Luckily it's not something we had to pay extra to register for, although we had the option to register with them. I know pet stores have shady practices, and normally I'm pretty against them, but I just fell in love with the (literally) doggie in the window and I couldn't leave him there.

Before our county pound required that a dog be altered before leaving there was a group of people who would get dogs that looked purbred and they would paper them and sell them or breed them. So then you have dogs that are touted as purebred being pred to produce dogs that could be god knows what. I remember an obvious terrier mix being papered as a chi.

The worst thing about it is AKC will give a dog limited papers so it can not be bred. While these registeries love that and now the bad breeder has a way to get "papers" and the registry gets money. Not saying AKC is perfect but it has some standard. UKC is good to.

We all do things like that! I started fostering years ago to get rid of the new dog urge!

My Tonkinese cat is Kiwendo Platinum Paradox.  Call name Pixel.  Dad is Lionel Train, mom is Leona Mikita.  One of her grandmothers was named Tasha Yar, I was sooo tempted to name Pix "Jadzia Dax".  I'm such a nerd.

Omg my fiancé would love to name a dog Jadzia Dax. He loves Star Trek, and I grew up watching it with my dad, so I don't necessarily remember the plots but I know all the characters. (I'm 24, he's 32)

I adopted all my pets, but I give them fancy full names anyway.  My dog is Arlo Spicoli Pupèemon.  XD

Paying for a pedigree seems wrong to me. Even my purebred hamster (yes, I know, it's sad) came with a pedigree that goes back five generations. Our cats have practically a whole book of ancestors. If you buy a pet, the pedigree should be included without any extra costs, that is just ridiculous.

My aunt breeds corgis. I want to say she gives the full pedigree and limited registration with each puppy but you have to pay for full registration. She also requires all puppies to be spayed/neutered unless the new owners are registered breeders and pay for the full registration. My family has been in dogs since my mom and aunt were tiny babies. Its not something I've ever done however. All my babies are rescues. My aunt and Mom both fostered dogs when I was younger and we'd had several rescues that we adopted along with the breeding dogs.

My mum has one pedigree dog, his pedigree name is Jacks in Black, which I think is silly.  :P

When we got him from the breeder he came with a 4 generation pedigree. I wouldn't pay money for a pedigree, particularly for a dog from a pet shop, as the breeding will be questionable anyway.

My dogs are rescues (I disagree with breeding when there are so many in rescue) so they don't have fancy names.  ;)

Also, just thought I'd add that I actually know a poodle called Sherlock!

My mum and dad bred dogs for years and years up until my dad passed away, we always gave 5 generation pedigrees to new owners. Because of Kennel Club registrations though you can go back as far as you like. But different countries and different Kennel Clubs vary as to what they expect a breeder to issue and often they like to be able to charge more for more extensive pedigrees.

I have 1 pedigree dog and then he has his own dog [just like Kats pup] who is a pedigree and then my mum has a dog. Harry, my babys name is, [affix] Viking Warrior. Lol less like a warrior you could not meet. :P

We have some great names over the year - Krime of Passion, Troop the Colour, All that Jazz, Lucy Two Shoes, Delta Dawn and so many more. :) Although the most fancy was Champion [breeder affix] Tip the Light Fantastic and Dance with [our affix].
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
