Would you buy these?
« on: April 10, 2013, 07:24:10 AM »
I've been making some pony charms. I was wondering if I made some to sell, would anybody be interested in buying them?

If you like them, what would you pay for one?

They are cute, I'd probably pay between $3 and $5 depending on size.  I think a LOT of people are making G4 charms. I see you making G1 charms too! I think you could reach a larger fan base by making all generation MLP charms.  ^.^

Your cost of making supplies should also factor in the price you set.

Those are adorable! I have seen a lot of charms on ebay and etsy, I think they are in the $3 region normally so it perhaps depends on size and the work involved if you charge more than that.

Awesome work.

I was thinking around $3 too. How does this sound... $3 for a charm, $4 for a cell phone charm, $5 for a necklace.

Of the charms I posted above, the smallest is G1 Moondancer at 3/4 inch tall. The biggest is G4 Princess Celestia at 1 3/4 in long.

I can do ANY pony, including customs, as long as I have the line art to copy and a color picture so I know what colors to make it.

I think those sound about on par with what others seem to be charging and paying. Perhaps popping a couple on etsy or advertised in your signature here with those prices will point out if you are in the right region?

How durable are they - or do they not hold up to force at all?

They're pretty sturdy. I've had one hanging off my 3DS for months with no damage to it.

Could you add rhinestones? Maybe some sort of extra "bling" to them? There are a lot of people making these sorts of charms. I'd want to make my charms stand out. Oh! Like maybe some rhinestone eyes for G1 Twinkle Eye ponies? Maybe a real tiny ribbon for "scarf/socks" like add ons?

I really like these charms.  ^.^

Not to imply that you did this, but just make sure it's your own art and not like something traced or off of a coloring book. I mean Hasbro won't sue you but in general it's a better business practice to keep it your original art (plus then they're unique!)

I've never put charms on my phone or 3ds or anything, but I've seen so many lately and they're so fun! My friend is making a Fire Emblem: Awakening charm for my 3ds and I'm excited :) Your prices sound great, best of luck!

Nope, not possible.

I really want to sell them on here if possible. I'm not expecting to make a bunch of money. I'm not even all that concerned with the money. I'm more concerned with the feedback. I want to do a couple swaps this year, but all my feedback is YEARS old.

I agree with all of this! I would definitely be more inclined to buy an original... You can of course trace your own linearts again and again ^^
