Gauging interest - Custom Playset Swap?

Hey everybody! I'm still a super newbie on the Arena, but I got this idea for a swap and it just seemed like so much fun I couldn't resist throwing the idea out there! If enough people get behind it, maybe we could find an older member willing to host it? Anyway, onto the idea, and it's a big one!

Custom playsets!

The idea is to make a basic custom themed pony with matching playset, much like Hasbro has made in the past! I'm talking something like the G4 accessory sets and other playsets.

Now, before you get scared, this swap wouldn't necessarily require intense prop sculpting! For those that prefer not sculpting, assembling a collection of to-scale dollhouse miniatures would be an option - common 1:12 dollhouse scale seems to work well for G4 ponies, maybe slightly bigger for G1s/bigger ponies, and these are easily hunted down on ebay, dollhouse sites & craft stores, etc. Of course, accessories would have to be pony-fied in appropriate colors and patterns, and all match a similar aesthetic - IE, no unpainted antique-styled wooden dinner tables with pink plastic barbie plates. The point is customizing, not assembling a collection of purchases!

Playsets would include 5-10 small accessories, one "furniture" or feature piece, one basic, matching, un-sculpted pony, and one tri-fold cardboard backdrop - which could be printed, collaged, hand-drawn, scrapbooked... whatever you prefer, as long as it pulls the set together!

Partners would be grouped by skill level and crafting preference: those willing to sculpt and those that aren't (although sculptors aren't required to sculpt EVERYTHING - like if you wanted to include something like a brush - it would just be the most raw-creation-heavy). A participant's "wishlist" would be their top three desired playset prompts with up to three possible matching ponies per playset (if specifics are desired), that way the partner could choose whichever scene and pony would best suit their abilities.

Here are some silly ideas off the top of my head of possible playsets!

Outdoor picnic
Vegetable and flower garden
Roller derby
Day at the beach
Mr. Breezy's fan shop!
other FiM scenery recreations (with matching background pony?)


This is still all very brainstormy, so please give me your feedback and ideas! Let me know if you think anything flat-out wouldn't work, and ideas of what might make it better. :'D Likewise, if you're really set on participating and want to do accessory sculpting, make sure you have some examples done before sign-ups might happen!

Think about the possibilities!  You could do an "undersea" theme with a seapony and seashells, a Canterlot Castle set (Hasbro hasn't done a great job with this, IMO), a beauty salon, Twilight Sparkle's library...

I think this sounds neat I did a few large custom play sets I'd like to do this swap! ( I'll dig up pics)

I think it would be nice to have the swap open to mluti gens and maybe those that sing up could make a list of 2 or 3 sets they might want and what gens they would want

G1, 2, 3 size could be kinda all the same but G4 would have to be smaller

I suppose as part of the sign-up participants could list what gens they'd want to receive, and what gens they'd prefer to work on. Then we could try matching people based on that!

Yes!! I'm such a sucker for cute tiny accessories and miniatures, and making little dioramas and scenes is SO much fun... Especially if it's for ponies!
