I used nylon from Dollyhair for this. It was originally a vampire/sea monster wig. All I did was remove the original hair with hemostats, stick a needle into the hole, thread the hair through the needle, tie a knot in the end of the hair, and pull it through.

That's the only way I know of to make a wig with loose hair... Making one from a fabric wig cap needs wefted hair, usually.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest gripes about the Create-A-Monsters is that many of the sets don't come with enough parts to make a complete character. The Add-On packs are missing the upper limbs and torsos, likely because they want people to have to buy their Starter packs (the ones that come with pieces to make two complete monsters), which unfortunately don't match most of the single-packed kits in color. Older Starter packs also only came with one torso to share between the two potential monsters, though this has since been changed, and they now include two.

For a short window, Mattel offered a set of missing pieces through their online shop, which you could buy, but once they sold out they never went back in stock. :/ It included the missing parts for the Insect pack, but they're getting a bit sought after now, and it may be difficult to find them outside of marked up prices on ebay. Prices have been a bit all over the place in recent months, but I'd keep checking there.

There are also some people out there that cast their own torsos to sell. One of these is Plastic Curves, who makes some incredible custom pieces that are compatible with the CAM's:

There are some nice wig ideas in the Dollhouse forum, and if you google wig tutorials, there are lots of options.

While there are no sales of this specific head to compare... Most of the heads I did see were about $5-6
