Great work, congratulations to you both! I am hoping that will my mom will try it as well. Its great news that it helps with the emotional withdrawal symptoms..(She once lost her pack of cigarettes while we were visiting NYC and absolutely flipped, getting mad that the person in Nathan's was taking too long with the food so she threw the tray with the rest of the food on it..It was sooo embarrassing that I ended up crying and walking off for almost an hour. Her behavior was really bad.)

That would be embarrassing Jan Joy, I am sorry it happened. Addictions are a terrible thing. We have been going strong with not smoking now for 31 days!!! My husband is having a harder time with the not having a cig, but he's getting better. To me it it feels like I lost a comfort stuffed animal or something similar. I'll feel lost for a few minutes then realize what I am missing and kinda do a "Oh yea that's right" and then I will start focusing on something else like laundry, dishes or cleaning a room.
I do wish anyone who is trying to drop a bad habit luck, it's a difficult thing to do and certainly requires a strong will.

I quit about four years ago, and I quit cold turkey. It was super hard and even now after all this time, I still get cravings for cigarettes. It's especially hard when I see someone smoking, be it in person or on TV, because it makes the cravings come back. But I had smoked for 14 years (I started at 13) plus I smoked Newports which I've heard are among the hardest to quit so overall, I'm pretty proud of myself for doing it. After I quit, I started collecting MLP. I used the money I saved on cigarettes to buy ponies. It gave me something else to focus on, plus, I knew once I had them I couldn't smoke around them anymore and it worked. Oh, I also got rid of all the ashtrays in the house and stopped allowing guests (even family) to smoke in the house. Then I cleaned everything thoroughly. Pretty much everything in the house had a yellow coating to it because of the years of smoke. But now you can't even tell anyone ever smoked here.

As for Chantix, I wanted to take it to help me quit, but since I'm bipolar and have anxiety issues, I couldn't take it because it makes mental disorders way worse. Of course, my insurance wouldn't have covered it anyway (because it was brand new at the time) so I would have had to buy it on my own and I couldn't have afforded it.

When I gave up wheat, I went through withdrawal too. It's nowhere near as bad as cigarette withdrawal I'm sure, but I was certainly feeling sympathetic to my mom during that time. She's tried to quit smoking without much success.

That is an awesome start. :)  I smoke too. I'm not a super heavy smoker, but enough to where it is concerning. I'm getting close to a pack a day. So yeah.....it's getting bad. I have heard wonderful things about Chantix. I'm already on so many other meds I hate to add another to the cocktail.

Keep at it though! I wish you luck in your quest to quit this unhealthy habit. :)  Takes a lot of willpower but I know many people who have done it.
