Is it humid enough? What kind of pot is it in? I kept mine in a 2 liter pop bottle. I cut the top so I could access the plant, but it still fit snuggly. The only opening was the mouth of the bottle. Keep it moist and in indirect sunlight.

Remember to not feed it until the leaf turns bright red. Feeding it too early will just make whatever you gave it rot, it won't digest properly. Never feed it meat, only insects.

you can't use tap water to water them, has to be distilled water. could that be it?

Oh yes!  That too, definitely!  They HATE the minerals in our tap water...

Repotting may have made it droop. Fly traps don't like to be moved. Usually plants look like they're going to die when you repot them and a few days later they spring back. You didn't pull the plant out of the dirt to repot it did you? If you're going to repot them you shoud repot the whole pot-shaped clump of dirt they are in and don't try to break up the root ball or do anything to disturb it.

^ That also. They are sensitive little things. If some of it is turning black it's probably due to the move. You can cut the black parts off and it'll bounce back.

I want to correct my earlier "in indirect sunlight" too. I was thinking about my plants but I live in Florida and unless it's a cactus you never put plants in direct full sun here, even when instructed to. So you're okay with the direct light.

I don't want to open a new thread, so I will post here.
I bought some venus flytrap seeds off eBay last September. I didn't plant them immediately because I couldn't get the right soil mixture atm, so I planted them about 3 months later. I wasn't that surprised when nothing was coming out, even for over 2 months. I'm planning to get them in June this year when they are still fresh and plant them immediately.
Some of you seem experienced with them, so do you have any tips on growing them from seed?

Fly traps are very picky about the right soil (peat and sand) and water (distilled or rain) and also you don't bury the seeds, you can put them right on top. You have to keep the seedlings very warm, like 80F-90F.

Btw: you guys have made me decide to get some fly traps this summer for my annual drain fly infestation.

I realised the thing about water too late and I had burried them :(  I made them a mixture 1:1 of peat and perlite.

Thank you for your advice and good luck with your flytraps  :broc: (we need a dancing flytrap icon)
