Please show me pictures to help motivate me
« on: February 26, 2013, 08:47:05 PM »
Good evening pony friendd  i have a huge task ahead of me in cleaning some really dirty so softs. I just love these girls when they are pretty and clean. I have about five really grubby so softs that are so dirty they almost look like their bottoms are bare  I was hoping to see some gorgeous before and after shots for motivation. I know a lot of you are very talented in restoring ponies and was hoping to learn from the masters :P Big thanks xo

Someday I'll get Twilight.... ;)

I have really grubby SoSofts myself here - tried to clean them just with soap and hot water but did not really succeed....Could I try Toothpaste or shouldn't I do that?

Yes you can try toothpaste. With so softs its not just about the cleaning substance you use its how you clean them. You want to use cold to tepid water and I would suggest massaging gently the soap or toothpaste you are using to clean into the coat. 2 of the same pony can react in different ways to the same cleaning system all because of the condition of their glue. Good glue which has not degraded and you could scrub the pony clean. Bad glue which has broken down and you could damage the flocking even with a gentle massage unfortunately. Test an area under your pony's hoof as thats a good way to make sure even your gentle cleaning wont cause damage.

I've had great success with toothpaste, tepid water and a baby toothbrush. The bristles are very very soft, the problem being it takes longer to clean heavily soiled softies but the results are awesome! I keep a wet one for cleaning and a dry one to brush the flocking while it's drying under cool air hairdryer. Works like a charm!
