Is your "better half" a collector too?

I don't have a boyfriend but I've enjoyed reading this thread! Was talking to a friend who is reluctant to start collecting Monster High or other toys properly as she's not sure she wants her boyfriend to know she likes them which made me a bit sad. But I suspect she's just using it as a reason to stop herself from jumping in the deep end haha

My bf buys lenses and stuff for his camera, does that count? He loves to take pictures and have so many gears to it, he almost has a studio for photography, except the studio itself. He also collects games, but not too seriously. Like, when he finally had all the Silent Hill games, he had them on display for a week and then got tired of them and sold them. Anyway, he has no say with my ponies for his stuff is way more expensive than mine. ^^

My husband is more of a minimalist, so he doesn't collect much of anything (aside from race medals/shirts - his main hobby is running so he's ended up with a pile of those by default).

It's a little funny when we have guests - almost all of the non-essential stuff in our house is mine!

My hubby collects dvds, and Star Trek (on a super small scale). He claims to think my ponies are stupid, but I think he is just fighting his inner love for them.  He did get me the pink dream castle for Christmas this year, so he can't despise my collection too much.

He collects Sonic The Hedgehog comics, I love sonic too so its grate.
He has many other comics too. And Halo. He is some what of a brony, so we watch episodes together.
Its nice.
He dosent like the look of my G1s tho. He says they look like Horse Cows. 
But he dosent mind me buying them he bought me most of my collection. he bought me around $60 worth from craigslist and ebay. And my dad bought me $16 of ponies off of craigslist. All vintage mind you.
Ive spend about $50.
No one really minds me collecting, I think my mom might tho. She makes me feel guilty about it most times. I cry  and my fiance comforts me but I do feel ashamed at some of my spending habits  ..I make myself feel guilty most of all. 
My mother has good reason for making me think about my spending. She is truly wonderful  And I love her so much. Sometimes I wish she would be somewhat more encouraging.   but over all I think its ok.She dosent really collect so she may not understand. Or just that she never grew up with a collection or a interest.

but over all I dont think my fiance minds the "horse cows" staring him down when we walk into the room.

Sort of. He "collects" video games in that he has so many, they may as well be a collection.

I also joke and call him a Steam hoarder, he has so many Steam games...

Unfortunately his parents are insane neatfreaks that throw things away constantly, so he only has one childhood toy left; Bedtime Bear.

My new hubby collects guns.  He has lots of guns... allll shapes and sizes!  He's a really good shot, too.  I feel very safe in my new home, let's just put it that way.  Yesterday was my first day to go home by myself, and when I went into the basement to do laundry, I carried one of his pistols w/ me.   

That and knives.  On the way back from our honeymoon, we stopped at Smoky Mountain Knifeworks, and he got a really cool knife thing that you put on your hand (yeah, that's me... I know so much, lol), and a set of Batman... bat shaped throwing star... things... that are really cool. :p  He used to collect superhero action figures, but he sold most of them before we met.

My guy collects Battletech (Mechwarrior) figures, books, and guns.  I guess you could count his extensive video game library as a collection, too. xD  He has a whole 3-shelf bookcase filled with games and game guides.

He has a very modest G4 pony collection that he keeps hidden away.

Yes he is, and because of him I became a bigger and better collector, and we gave birth to a collector.  So it is all in the family.

Yeppers... My hubby collects Guns, Survival gear (in case sh#! hits the fan), Challenge coins, Steelers items, Darth Vader, Lego Halo figure blind bags, hats and other odds and ends stuff.

The only ponies he has are the ones I designed and created for him, which make a total of 4, only one of them are complete and it is a Steelers Pony.

He thinks it great that I collect and have added to my ponies and my monster high collections. He's also bought me other stuff for my other collections. My very prized Hellboy doll was a xmas present from him, as was a lot of my other items.
