Odd 'wrong item' situation...
« on: January 31, 2013, 08:39:34 PM »
So about a month ago I bid on a Greek pony (Minty) and didn't win. I was the runner-up. Very shortly after the auction ended, I noticed I had a second chance offer on it. I thought it was odd, because the person who won the auction initially had a solid amount of feedback and it had only been maybe 15-20 minutes since the auction ended. I took the second chance offer anyway, since I did really want Greek Minty. The seller took a while to ship, roughly 10 days, but I figured I'd be fine if I watched my paypal window.

Fast forward to today... I received a Greek Minty in the mail, however it's not the same one that was pictured in the auction  The one in the auction was missing ~6ish hair plugs, and had some marks that the one I had in my hands didn't have. The one I received was only missing 2 hair plugs. All in all, the one I received was slightly nicer than the one in the auction... but... it still wasn't the one that was pictured. I'm happy with the one I got, and have no intention of returning it or anything... but should I say anything to the seller about this? I've never had this happen to me before. :drunk:

It sounds to me like the seller had more than one Greek Minty so thats why they sent you the second chance offer (and also why the condition of your Minty differs slightly from the one in the original auction. This is what happened to me before on ebay too  :awake:   )  . I dont think  there is anything dodgy going on and I dont think you need to do anything about it TBH - just enjoy your pony  ;)

haha, i feel slightly bad for the one who won the auction initially, they paid more than you and got a worse pony :P I would just be happy if I were you but keep it in mind that this seller tends to do this

You could say something to the seller, but I don't think it would matter if you are happy.  Many sellers who don't collect ponies just see them as duplicates and don't discern between ponies.  To them, it may as well be a brand new pair of shoes that they have several of in stock.

Thanks guys :) My only concern with it is that many collectors can be somewhat picky about flaws, and if the seller does this again and the pony isn't better than the picture (or has a different set of flaws), that it could cause a bit of trouble for both seller and buyer. :awake:

From your point of view I agree that if you're happy then nothing needs to be said, it definitely doesn't sound dodgy :)  But if you are concerned about it happening to someone else and it not going so well (very sweet BTW) then it maybe worth a quick friendly message :) I had two of the same pony once and sold the second by second chance offer but I put a note in the offer detailing the slight differences between the two ponies; it may be a good thing for this seller to do something similar :) You're awesome for thinking of the rest of us
