My first piece of pony art!

Hi,

I hope its ok for me to join in over here.

I was bored the other day so thought I'd have a go at drawing a pony persona for myself!
For a reason completely unknown to myself I chose to draw G3 style (I don't really collect G3's!!)

Anyway here is the pencil drawing....

I then thought I might try out GIMP as a few people have raved about it to me so here is my first attempt at colouring a pony (and only my third attempt at using any digital ummm... art thingy lol)

I truly promise this was my first go at drawing a pony!
I didn't say I've never drawn anything before, just ponies 

I'm a bit of a perfectionist but also can't waste a drawing, if you see what I mean, so if something doesn't look right I rub out the part that isn't right and do it again. Saves on paper at least!

I didn't like the foot (hoof?) placement on the back left so changed it when colouring.

As for the digital colouring etc I had a vague idea of how the layers work and just learnt as I went. I obviously didn't try anything too complicated. It wasn't until I got to her eyes that I discovered the 'Smooth Stroke' function, think it may have been easier to do the whole outline with it had I found it earlier!!

All in all took a week of an hour here or there in the evenings, had fun!

They're my favourite colours. I tried to represent myself, as well as you can in pony form haha
The cutie mark hearts represent my family - the big one is for my husband and the two small ones are for my gorgeous girls (aged 3 and 6 months  )

This is your first time?!?!? You've captures the MLP look perfectally!! I try so hard to get the look down and just can't. :/ I've had to settle with being ok with my own style! I am def jealous of this shes so cute and fun looking!

Funny isn't it, that I think it is much more impressive that you have your own style!
I'm very good at copying an image or style or even a real life object but struggle with creating my own style or interpretation.
