Talk about geeking...
« on: January 23, 2013, 02:34:09 PM »
My daughters were watching an episode of Strawberry Shortcake (the 2003 episodes) on Netflix, and there was an episode about doing a cooking show. They were giving out actual recipes, so i thought it would be fun to make Orange Blossoms Cupcake Cones. I wrote the recipe down and made it with my daughters! They forgot to say how much bakingsoda to add, but most recipes call for 1/2 to 1 tsp so I threw it in. Wouldn't you know it, they look and taste great!

Makes 1 dozen
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup of butter (1 stick)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 12 Ice Cream Cones

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Place Ice Cream Cones onto baking tray or in muffin tin.
sift flour and baking soda together in a bowl, set aside.
In a Mixer, cream butter, sugar and vanilla.
Add two eggs to sugar mixture, and mix together. While mixer is still running, add milk.
Slowly add flour mixture and mix thoroughly.

Drop batter into Ice cream cones, filling 2/3 of the way full.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick when inserted into cake comes out clean.
Wait until completely cooled to frost.

I also made some cream cheese frosting

Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 1-8oz package of softened cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup of butter (1 stick)
  • 4 cups confectioner sugar
  • 2 tsps of Vanilla extract
  • food coloring

Cream butter, sugar, cream cheese and vanilla until smooth. Mix in your choice of food coloring and tint until color desired.

Speaking of recipes from works of fiction I found this site. Too bad it is missing the Portal cake but it still has lots of others.
