Final Fantasy 6 with ponies. How can anyone NOT love this to bits, amirite? What I'm not loving at the moment is trying to uncurse the $%@& cursed shield.

I never bothered with it in the regular FF6, so I thought I'd do it here. I could swear I've had the stupid thing equipped for more than 255 battles, and it's still cursed. Does anypony know the actual requirements for uncursing this thing? (I know the paladin shield was majorly nerfed in this version and not worth this much effort, but dammit I'm a completionist.) I'll throw my other question under a spoiler tag just in case.

Is it even possible for Pony to uncurse it? I'm playing alongside Phoe's Let's Play and it really looks like her Pony was the one to uncurse it.

Fight enemies on the island you start the world of ruin on (where you get the Palidor summon).


To easily do so:

Equip the Ribbon on the character with Cursed Shield.

Go to either Solitary Island, but stay out of the desert OR

Go to the desert beneath Miranda to fight the Cactrots (use Offering to kill in 1 turn) and Hoovers (Vanish/X-Zone trick for instant death)

Gogo and Gau (if Gau jumps away in the Veldt) cannot uncurse the shield.

As for the spoiler, why in---oh wait you're playing some sort of edited ROM I guess. I have no idea who Ditzy is a stand in for, so I can't help you there.

Yeah, they did an amazing job with this game. It's not just a resprite either. Most of the script has been rewritten to ponify it, and some pretty major things like character and enemy locations have been changed. It's totally worth downloading. The only thing it's missing is changing the currency from GP to "bits".

I have the cursed shield and ribbon equipped on my Ditzy, I'm on the Solitary Island (battles are SO fast there), and I really think I've won more than 255 battles. That used to be the only requirement as far as I know. It could be shifted around to different characters and still retain its battle counter. I'm wondering if they increased the number of required battles. Tonight I started keeping track on paper instead of just gauging the number based on the amount of magic my party is learning. (lol Twilight and Luna both know every spell I have access to, and Sweetie Belle's getting close!) If I haven't uncursed it by the time my physical count hits 255, I'm switching characters.

Ditzy is this game's Umaro, but she plays VERY differently.

I'm curious though...why do people say to stay out of the desert on Solitary Island? Is it just easier to keep track when non-desert battles only give 1 XP and 1 magic point?

Ive not heard of this before...and wonder.  Why Final fantasy 6? To get at the hard core fans, it would have probably been a better idea to go with either 7 or 10.

Update: I switched the shield over to Twilight. If nothing else, my unicorns are learning TONS of magic.

It's a ROM hack so I probably shouldn't directly link to it, but it's easy to find. Just google "Pony Fantasy 6" and it's the first link. The download button won't work until you visit the "Patches" and "Tools Used" pages. The creator wants to give credit to the people who helped him.
