Postal service update-Hurricane Sandy
« on: January 11, 2013, 04:57:07 PM »
Does anyone have an update on postal services affected by Hurricane Sandy? I purchased a pony (collection finisher and very rare) from pikabubba (ebay) on the 4 of September that still hasn't arrived. :( I'm guessing communications are still limited too as I can't contact her. I have bought many of her ponies and she is an excellent seller. If any one could give me an update on the areas affected that would be great. I know she was in the affected area. (think pennsylvania? can't remember)

Just depends on what part of PA I would think. The hardest hit were New Jersey and New York. I got walloped by Sandy in Virginia too we lost 2 trees had no electric for 4 days, but 20 minutes away they had just some rain and some high winds. If you could find the specific town or county she is in you could probably google it and find some contact information (email/telephone) for the local police and get a direct report from them.

Honestly, it just kinda depends on the area she is in. Sandy did a lot of damage to most of the New Jersey Coast Line but then some places hardly were touched at all. Was a weird storm.

I checked out her feedback and the last one she received was negative, but all positives before that. That was in November. I would try to contact eBay maybe and find out if they can look into it (should be able to maybe give you somewhat of a narrowed down location or maybe they can find out for you what the storm damage is like in her area since you are overseas). I would also keep messaging her to keep you covered and see what actions you could take as well via eBay if any. Not sure how they would handle this case due to you being overseas, factoring Sandy into it, and then adding in shipping delays on the east coast caused by Sandy.

I'll try ebay. I did look up her county, I'm sure it started with P. It may have been Philadelphia. I looked it up not long after the hurricane and her county seemed to be smack bang in the middle of the worst affected. I saw the negative feedback. It was left because she didn't respond to messages. I didn't leave any feedback because I was unsure of her situation and thought leaving negative fb would be a little rude, especially if it's beyond her control. *fingers crossed* hopefully my whirly will arrive soon.

I did not see where that person was located but honestly you should have received word by now one way or another. Philly wasn't hit as bad as other areas. If she was on the New Jersey coastline or parts of New York I would say probably best to contact ebay and just possibly be ready for bad news and count it as a loss. However, Philly is inland more so (granted I am inland and behind mountains.)...but I really didn't hear any doomsday type stuff coming from that area that would have prevented someone from getting back to you by now. Unless they had family in one of the other effected areas :\

I checked USPS's site for any updates and there was one on the 11th.

Hurricane Sandy

USPS continues to monitor the effects of Hurricane Sandy and is currently in the recovery phase. Safety of our employees and restoring normal facility operating conditions remain a top priority. USPS will continue to keep mailers advised with updates on this page.

Delivery: All areas are affecting 100% delivery through normal or alternate modes.

Processing Center Drop Shipments:  All mail processing facilities have resumed normal drop shipment schedules.  At this time, there are no redirect or restricted conditions.

Delivery Unit Drop Shipments: Click here for a complete list of Delivery Units that are not accepting drop shipments at this time.

It looks like everything should be moving along at this point. Perhaps you could add her name to the title of this thread. It may get some attention from someone who has spoken to her or knows something more.

I've messaged her on the TP and another forum we both visit (although she hasn't been around there since 2010) asking that if she's ok, to please come to the Arena and TP and post that she is, indeed, alive.  She's already got one negative on Ebay for another item that never arrived. :(

I really hope she's alright. This is totally out of character for her, so I'm concerned. :(

I hope so too! I've bought many ponies from her and she's very reliable and lovely to talk to. Hope she contacts someone soon. Please keep me updated. I would rather know she is ok.
