Sewing machine suggestions?
« on: January 12, 2013, 11:29:19 PM »
I'm having some issues with my sewing machine. I'm going to see if I can order parts I repair since my machine is about 40 yrs old. This is a just in case measure I'm curious which machines people might recommend? I'm a beginner sewer, but I want to stick win it long term. If I buy something I don't want it to be extremely computerized, some things are fine. Mostly something for a beginner, but one I could still use once I've learned more.  A reasonable price is best. I don't want to real the bank, but I want a decent machine. Any suggestions would be great just in case I have trouble fixing mine I want I look around at machines.

Sorry for weird typos I'm mobile.

I just bought a Singer Promise  http://www.singerco.com/products/2137/1409-promise

It is reasonably priced and has worked out so far for me with dolly clothes.

mum's got her old singer from back in the 70's  *runs to check model...*

singer 720 touch & sew :D

and i'm capable of using it ;)  ok, so i did a textiles gcse exam waaaay back in 1993, but i rarely sew since then. but when i di this machine is fab!  we've also got a computerised one, but its probably been used a dozen or so times and left untouched in the back of the wardrobe since the aforementioned exam :lookround:

My grandmother has a Singer Talent that I use sometimes and I like it quite a bit.  Has good features and isn't complicated at all.
