This can't be Addressed to Me!
« on: December 31, 2012, 07:24:09 PM »
What mail have you gotten that wasn't addressed to you? Today, my house got an envelope addressed correctly except that the person it goes to, something like "Harriet W Podboy" doesn't live here. Question is, who DOES it belong to? It could belong to this "Harriet" person in which the address is wrong. It could belong to us in which case the person it's for is wrong or it could be totally wrong and therefore isn't our mail at all.

yeah we get the odd bit off misdirected mail.

sometimes its adressed to the previous home owners, sometimes its  not even any adress nerar us!
it for like  3 suburbs over.

it happens more frequently than you'd think.

the one thing that really gets up my nose about the postal service is that,  on a few a occasions ive sent a parcelt. only for it to turn up on my door step a few  days latter!!!

like theyve read the "sender"  adress  and NOT the "ship to" adress ...

Ok, well, I've got a weird one.

My mom is a child of 4.
It's my mom, my two aunts, and my uncle.
All lived in our family house in NY.
My mom owned it years later and we would get mail for all of them still, makes sense, they did live there.

Uncle married and moves out.
His daughters have NEVER lived at our old house.
They got mail there, they get mail at our NEW house....

Aunt who is married for around 20 years still gets mail under her maiden name, I suppose it makes sense, but it's weird still.

The best part of all, we moved to PA two years ago.
We get mail for my aunt, my uncle, and various other people who have *never* lived at our brand new house in PA.

Oh, and we sometimes get mail for my cousin as "William B." he's "William K." and never in his life was he a B, because my aunt is married and he has his father's last name. >_>

I live in an apartment complex.  So I get ALL kinds of mail that isn't mine.  They simplified things by putting a hanging folder on the wall for people to place mail that doesn't belong to them.   I'm more perplexed when we receive mail that is obviously not ours at my workplace.  Where the business has been operating since the 80s.
"How much for the horse tornado?"
"Sir, that's a carousel."
"I must have it!"

My mom sometimes gets stuff for a woman with the same first name as her as well as her maiden name...but a different middle initial.

I get someone named Chandra's mail all the time.  Former resident, I assume.  I don't mind because she had good taste in catalogues.

Usually just mail for the previous residents (especially since we just moved a month ago).

I got some mail for the lady that owned the house before. But now that I have been here for 8 years now I do not get anymore.

Sometimes, when the addressee's apartment number is the same as our house, we do...

We get lots of mail addressed to the last several people who rented this house before us, usually just junk mail. During the election season, though, we got a piece of mail addressed to me and my aunt, who lives all the way on the other side of town.

We used to get bills and things from the bank for a family who had the exact same names, first and last, as my mom dad and brother. Took a long time to sort that one out.

We occasionally get cards which have been addressed to our house, I'd guess that they may be for past owners.. although it's quite strange, as I'm almost seventeen and my parents moved into the house before I was born. 0.0

So someone's got addresses which are around twenty years out of date! XD
