I sold all of mine last year. The Collector Ponies went for around $30 each and the Rainbow ponies went for $60 each so I can support what darknessunisousboy said :)

I bought my collector ponies new at the store, and the rainbow ponies for $35 a set last year.

Ok, so I've heard about stickers and brushes/combs, but what about the ribbons? Are they cheap? Are they different?

Yes they have a cheaper and slightly rougher texture - the side stitching on them is larger and less well done than on an original ribbon. They are also a tiny bit larger.

I won my repro Minty and Bluebelle in an arcade so that might their condition, but the ones I got had ultra greasy feeling hair and bluebelle had weird yellow stains on her. A condition for being what they are or just because the arcade stored them terribly?

They were available back in 2008, however the response from what I could tell was pretty poor. I got mine from Kmart in NYC when I visited princessluna. The whole make of the ponies were a combination of cheap and weird, like for some reason, they look fatter and their eyes are painted thin and squinty. You can easily pick off a Wave 1 Rainbow set off Ebay from the 80s for the same price and they look a lot better.

The only great thing about the set is that they are NEW. Other than that, you are really better off collecting the older ones. They are common anyway, so it's not a unimaginable utopia to achieve.

Does anyone know the current value of the First 100 sets?  I have the 2 collector's pose ones.  I don't think they did that for the Rainbows though did they?

I only ever got the collector pose when they were still sold in stores. Been trying to track down the rainbow set for several years now with no luck ><.

Well, it's sad that they're poor quality, but at least we can tell the different between them and the G1s!

They make good baits for those that don't want to bait a real g1 and want the look of the g1 pony. :)

I don't think I have ever seen a set for sale to be honest so I am not certain how much, if any of a difference, it will make to price. The first 50 of some of the G3s don't seem to go for too much more when for sale than their later equivalents to be honest but that could be different with the retro sets.

I would guess an auction is perhaps the best bet to see if someone is willing to pay more?

I don't think the rainbow sets ever made it to Canada :( I'd so love to have them. They are so fresh and new  I've got a loose Cotton Candy, Blue Belle and Snuzzle, so that made a complete set of three originals.

I got the rainbow pony sets from Hasbro.com, maybe 3-4 years ago. I actually never saw them in the store either.
