Have you ever used an officiant?
« on: November 25, 2012, 07:34:25 AM »
I'm getting married next month in December in NYC. Our marriage won't be legal in our state, but hopefully one day. ANYHOW, we are going to use an officiant.

Have you ever used one?

LOL I forgot the rest of my questions!

How much did it cost?
Did they come to where you were?
How soon ahead did you book?
What kind of ceremony did you have?
Did they read something you selected?
Do they require you have rings?

All of those things vary by the officiant, so it's best to research folks and ask them all of those questions you've listed.

It's fairly simple for a friend or a family member to become an ordained officiant online as well.

My uncle was the officiant at our wedding.  He was certified online and did a great job.  Didn't cost us a penny and it was really personal.  :)

Congrats!  Whether or not it's legally recognized (yet), a wedding is always a wonderful celebration!

My past two neighbors were officiants.   They would only charge for booze and gas money and sometimes not even for that.  But that's a friend rate.
One of them will do all sort of different speeches and will even dress up in different costumes.  :D  I want him to dress as Dee Snider if I get married. Lol Definitely ask around.  There's more people licensed to officiate than one would realize.

That's really lovely that you're having a ceremony. The most important marriage is not so much one on paper, as it is one of the heart.

"How much for the horse tornado?"
"Sir, that's a carousel."
"I must have it!"
