How do I remove the head of a Blind Bag figure?
« on: November 27, 2012, 01:43:56 PM »
It is possible to remove the head of a blind bag pony? I know I'll have to remove most of the hair with an exacto knife. Once that's done, is it difficult to get the head off? Or is it as simple as running it under hot water and prying it off? Or would hot water be worse since it expands the plastic molecules?
I'll put something here some time

um, none of my blind bags have removable heads. Do you have a picture of the one you are trying to work with?

You can remove their heads. The neck is extra long and the excess goes in the head. It's really difficult to leave that "plug" intact though, because the plastic is super soft. I'll try to take some pics once I'm back at home later tonight :).

Yes, they come off. Like you said, you have to cut the hair off. Once that's done you can sometimes pull off the head with no problem. Sometimes you have to cut a bit though.

They do come off, easier when heated in my opinion if you go at it normally in my experience the neck cracks and tears.  It is easier once the hair is already cut/prepped.  If loose to start with a little elbow grease is all you need.  But I usually cut mine it's just easier and you end up with a less noticeable seam in the end.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

Thanks everyone; I guess I'd have to grab a pair of pliers, too!
Yes, of course I'll show it when/if I finish. I'm just floating an idea around. I was thinking of making a more show-accurate Fluttershy for my brother, and I was toying with using a Twilight Sparkle figure, since in my mind Fluttershy would much rather keep all four hooves on the ground. The plan was to tilt her head slightly so shy looks more, well, shy, somewhat emulating the pose on the 2012 McDonalds figure of her. It might end up being too ambitious a project for me, though, in which case I'll just use a regular rearing Fluttershy.

I did a head swap for my brushable Fluttershy blind bag. I used a Rarity body, but don't like the angle of her head and her puffy cheeks. So, I swapped her head for someone else's (don't remember which one)
