Having a bad time with eBay
« on: November 16, 2012, 04:04:53 AM »
I have been a member on eBay for about 6 years now and use it a lot. In those six years I have had a mostly positive experience both selling and buying. I have never had to leave any neg feed backs until recently. But this past month has been awful.

1. I bought some ponies on a BIN paid straight away. Next day got a message saying one way damaged and they would refund me. I said I don't mind one being damaged sent them anyway. Got refunded then saw they had all been relisted a couple of weeks later.

2. Bid and won two mlp they had been described quite a bit mentioning their faults. But wen I got one the seller hadn't stated that the middle of the mane on one had been cut to the plugs. I'd way overpaid so I messages them to say I wasn't happy to no avail. Left neutral feedback and got a really horrible message saying that I was a pathetic excuse for a human being for leaving neutral feedback. This really upset me I mean why would you say that really?

3. Bid and won a large lot of mlp waited two weeks no replies to any messages sent only to me messages by the seller saying it was a double listing. Got refunded they were apologetic and polite I was disappointed and I do wonder how you have something for sale and not realise its a double listing but mistakes can be made.

4. Paid for a BIN immediately last Friday it was quite expensive sent two messages no reply. No idea if its been posted or not and don't really no what to do now.

Anyway sorry for the rant. I really like eBay but just wondering if its worth it anymore. Everyone who I have bought from on the arena has been so much nicer and more helpful.

It seems like you can either go through a streak of either really good luck on ebay or really bad.  I wish you better luck and hope some of the issues your having get sorted soon.

Oh gosh I am sorry, I can relate.  I have not been through those specific things, but I have had a lot of problems on ebay when I started buying ponies.  I never had problems when I purchased antique or vintage dolls on ebay.  The pony world on ebay is another story.  I can see where you would be frustrated though.  I am not sure I understand how someone could have a double listing either. Thats really weird.  It just makes me wonder if half of the problems you have had came from sellers that didn't like the price their auctions went for.  If its a bin though...that doesn't make any sense.  As far as the plugs missing thing...thats really awful. I can't believe someone would say that. Wow what a nasty seller.

A long time ago when I had my old ebay ID that I had to close due to message harassment from a strange  stalker type member on ebay....I sold a lot of dolls and clothes on ebay. I kept getting messages from a buyer that my price was outrageous along with many rude and nasty comments during the auction.  The funny thing is that lot sold for much more than my asking price. I guess they were just jealous or didn't have money and wanted it and thought they could manipulate me with mean messages.  I guess since ebay is a community there will be weirdos there just like anywhere else.

You're pathetic for leaving neutral feedback? Sounds more like the seller is pathetic for not checking his/her messages. They should be grateful you didn't leave a negative.
I'll put something here some time

Geez Cazz, this doesn't sound like a normal experience on Ebay. You got hit hard with some very shady sellers. What kind of feedback did they have?

The only advice I can give is to understand that some sellers are bad and some are good. The established ones that have Top Rated Seller status tend to be more professional. For instance, if you see a seller with 20 feedback and they are starting an auction for a penny, there's a better chance that something might go wrong than with someone who has 200 feedback TRS and lists a pony for $5.

Also, many times these sellers list in the description "pony is good" or something to that effect. Always check to see if the description covers the basics and has more than one line.

Many of the newbies just don't understand how the bidding works and list very low starting bids and low shipping. Then they get bitter when the price doesn't jump and either start the excuse or lying game.

Of course, not everything is set in stone. Some established sellers may be not so great and some starting out sellers are awesome. But generally, you'll be better off searching for sellers that are well established. Especially since you are having such a hard time right now.

I'm so sorry to hear you've had such a bad time on ebay lately   Its true that dodgy things are less likely to happen when you buy from long time sellers with good feedback etc, although newer sellers arent all bad and you can still get some good deals on things... so I wouldnt give up on them completely - just be aware of the risks .  I hope that your next ebay buys work out much better
