Hello, I am very new to the Ball-jointed doll collecting (I don't even have a doll yet  ) and I am trying to get into Blythe dolls. I was wondering if someone could:

-give me a run-down of what to look for in a Blythe Doll
-where to find a basic Blythe BJD for purchase
-tell me if it is an ok-project for customizing dolls.

Blythes are not BJDs. They aren't strung, they don't have ball joints -- heck, they don't even have articulation at all!

An official, full size Blythe usually costs over $100. If you're a newbie at customizing them, you should consider looking up Blybe on eBay -- those are knock-off Blythes for a fraction of the cost, and they're very nice quality for what they are.

Yeah, I'm slightly confused. Are you looking for strung Asian Ball jointed dolls or a Blythe? I'm happy to help with either!

I'm just trying to find out some more information from a buying perspective. I know that the 11" Blythe dolls have a string in the back that changes their eye colours.

But thank you for the information given so far, I appreciate it.

Okay I'll try to help...

Blythes are a re-introduction of a Kenner doll from 1972. They're made in Japan. The best places to buy a doll, one that you know is a legit release and not a knock off is from

http://www.cc-toys.com.hk
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?GenreCode2=all&Word=blythe&x=0&y=0
https://www.juniemoonshop.com

OR you can join Blythe Kingdom for second hand dolls

Really as far as customizing, I can't help with that until I know which doll you are looking for. Several Blythes are extremely hard to find or expensive and you would not want to customize these.

As far as BJD if you're interested in them as well, please let me know and I'll try to help.
