Cleaning help *Update - all cleaned up!*
« on: November 16, 2012, 12:34:21 PM »
I just recently scored a nice little lot of ponies on craigslist. All of them were in really good condition except for this little seapony who has these black smudges all over her. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I don't think that it's marker.
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips that I could try? I don't have a Magic Eraser on hand so I haven't been able to try that yet. She's just so cute and it makes me sad to see her covered in all that stuff :(

UPDATE: Found a Magic Eraser laying around and it completely took all the black off! Pics posted a few posts down  Thanks to everyone for the advice ^.^

I don't know if it is the same stuff but alot of my ponies come to me with black marks on them (that is not marker) and it just comes off with soap and hot water

Yeah, just rub her with soap and water and see what happens. For most marks, that's all you need. Magic Eraser comes in handy for things like marker or pen marks, but it's not necessary all the time.
I'll put something here some time

My Baby Sea Breeze had some black marks on her (and nail polish) which were all easily taken care of with some acetone and a magic eraser. /shrug

They look pretty much the same as the ones she had so I wouldn't worry about them. Plus that surface dirt will be taken off rather well if you do get your hands on a magic eraser. If you can't get one of those, try the dishsoap and warm water idea :) worst comes to worst, oxyclean does wonders too.

I'd give her a good wash with soapy warm/hotwater, then use a magic eraser for any marks left. And if after that there are any marks I'd carefully use acetone (careful of her eyes, blush and fin paint).

A little conditioner combed and rinsed through her hair will make her look perfect.

Found a Magic Eraser buried deep in a kitchen drawer so I gave it a shot and she looks amazing now! Completely took off all the black and surface dirt  so happy right now!

Wow.  Someone should send that before & after set to the makers of MCMEs for a testimonial!  What a difference. ^.^  Great work, ShannonInPonyland!

Wishlist - I'm back on (semi-) active buying again... can't buy everything on my wish list all at once (yay, back-to-school and tuition fees), but I am still looking to plump up my collection a bit more: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,380638.0.html
