Why do you collect?

I am a very new MLP Collector, but I collect since it is a fun and reasonably priced hobby for the G4's I am collecting.

My son loves playing with the ponies and enjoys helping me find ones we don't have at the store when we go out, so that is always a plus.

I collect because it makes me happy!
Without ponys my life would be a bit boring and I would have to collect something!!!
Ponies are colourful and lift the mood of anyone down in the dumps.

For a lot of strange reasons!

*I've always collected stuff. That's just how I am.
*I enjoy thrift store shopping for ponies. Part of it is the thrill of the hunt. The other part is cleaning them up and adding them to the collection
*Nostalgia. I grew up at the tail end of G1 (I'm 26). The remind me of the other cool toys I had when I was a kid.

Also, I really just love shiny and/or colorful stuff!!

Some of the main reason why I collect ponies are:

I enjoy being a set completer.
I totally love to hunt for ponies. I think its my most favorite occupation.
I remember when the first ponies came out in 1982. I was about 9 years old when the came out. I was very happy about the new styles of ponies.
I love to collect things.
I enjoy being apart of the pony community. You guys are awesome.
Ive been collecting for 6 years and its been an interesting experience.

Brilliant question!

For me when I was sad many years ago and I needed something to focus on, collecting little plastic ponies seemed a nice, innocent and interesting option. I was just captured from the first one arriving with the adorableness and the rush of childhood memories.
