NEED HELP
« on: December 17, 2012, 02:23:49 PM »
Sold My Little Pony BAIT Lot on Ebay. SOLD as is. Free Shipping! I Shipped within 2 days of payment. Has Delivery Confirmation history.

Buyer says Ponies were in poor condition and that they were a gift and shipping was late. ??????

Buyer Says it wasn't what they were expecting and that they are planning on leaving negative feedback.

In my listing I also said to please ask any questions or look at pictures prior to bidding!

I would write back to her and explain, nicely that when a ponies condition is listed as bait, it means that is good for an experienced restorer or a customizer. And are not usually good for display purposes.

As far as her threatening bad feedback, it is highly frowned upon by ebay and is looked at as feedback extortion. And you can and should report her.

Can you provide a link to the auction in question to help get a better idea on the situation though. Please

If the person isn't a collector (just buying for one) I find they usually don't know what "bait/custom/restore" to us collectors entails, they may assume restore is ponies needing a clean- not poor condition ponies. Back in the day I had a few people make that mistake with my ponies. Unless you did mention "these are all in poor condition" or "may have bites/chews/rust/cut hair" in the description indicating the buyer just didn't bother to read what they were getting. Either way, that doesn't excuse the feedback extortion.

*edit* I see the listing.
If the person isn't familiar with pony collector speak I could see how they felt mistaken about condition, especially as "play condition" is mentioned.

It is a good idea to have a whole paragraph explaining the ponies' condition to non-collectors. You don't want to eliminate a whole market, do you? Well, maybe you do to avoid hassle, :D but nothing will stop non-collectors from bidding anyway and possibly putting you in the same position.
You could:
1. Make a detailed paragraph or even chart explaining the collectors' terms you use, and copy/paste that onto all of your pony sales.
2. Use terms that everyone can understand to make allowances for non-collectors.
I'll put something here some time

Can you post their email? If they worded it right, Ebay will remove the neg feedback for feedback extortion. Did they ask for a refund?

sorry to hear you are having problems with this buyer   It does sound like this is a non pony person who simply doesnt understand what the term Bait" etc means . I find that there are a lot of inexperienced buyers out there who need really thorough descriptions of the items . I know this is time consuming - especially when its a bait/restore lot, but if you do ever need to sell another lot like this in future it will save you a lot of hassle ;) From the picture, someone who isnt aware of certain pony issues, might think they were getting good condition ponies (they dont look bad at all - its only if you zoom in and look closer that a few of the flaws can be seen) .
I would go with Ponylady's advice and send your buyer a polite message saying that you are sorry to hear that she was disappointed with the ponies - then explain to her what bait etc means. She may be ok with it then, but there is still a chance that this buyer will try and get a partial, or maybe want you to refund her. Be careful how you word the message, since she may open an item not as described case, even though you do say its a bait lot in the title.  You can definitely report the buyer for threatening you with neg feedback though .

I have been a business person for years so I have already written a nice note to the buyer explaining things. The buyer NEVER asked for a refund just said the lot was "disgusting" and " in bad condition". Any pony person I have ever dealt with would say my ponies are wonderful...even my baits  ;) They said I lied abut the condition...?? and complained about how long it took in the mail when it was mailed quick after payment (they didn't pay for shipping).....and then they threatened the Negative Feedback because they want to be "Honest Buyers" when leaving feedback.....????

As of this morning....no email back from the buyer

Well, Ebay is stepping up and protecting buyers now. So you have a good chance of getting it removed if they leave it. Just point out today Ebay that the condition was clearly stated in the title and the description. also, I'd offer the buyer a refund upon return.

Oh my gosh! I'm sorry you are going through this.

I would pay that much for that lot. The picture is clear and while they are not perfect, I think they are in pretty good condition! Everyone here has given very good advice.

Good luck!
 >_<^.^
