Help! Shanghai or Beijing pony shopping?
« on: November 10, 2012, 05:25:21 PM »
Hi everypony!

This maybe grasping at straws a little, but I am going to Shanghai and Beijing soon... And was wondering if any one knows if the sell ponies there at all? I have no idea...

Also are there any vintage Toy Stores .

Thanks

No vintage toy stores here, or at least I've never heard about it!

Pony shopping is quite tricky in China, there's one place on Shanghai's biggest walking street (nanjing lu if I remember right). Never went pony shopping in Beijing but there's a big toy mall there (on the south).

This said, pony shopping is expensive here and you can only get good deals by buying online (the ever so famous taobao).

Good luck!

The last couple of times I was in Shanghai I didn't have time to do anything remotely non-work related unfortunately [still in a huff about that] but when in Beijing a few years ago I did go to the Toy Market - there were tonnes of fakie pony items but there were also a small handful of G3 Mermaids and Ponyville. In honesty everything that was there was pretty much what had been available back home for a few months.

Hopefully other people have some more ideas!

Ponies are basically non-existent, you can only find them online. Even Toys'r'Us down here doesn't have anything anymore. They used to sell a few G3 and Ponyville 3 years ago, but horribly expensive, and now nothing.
The only time I ever came across a G4 in person was in Dalian in a jewelry shopping mall, they used them to make these glittery iPhone case things. I asked about the price, but they wanted like 20 USD for one MOC, so I let it go.

Technically they are not scarce ... they just can't be found in normal stores! If any of you has friends who can speak chinese, make them hunt on taobao for you (chinese young girls -around 20 yo- LOVE taobao shopping)!
